surprisingly my google queries do not lead to success:

my Intellisync is using too much memory on my E61i. Thus I thought it would be a good to move my many contacts and other Outlook data to the memory card where I have plenty of free memory..... BUT how do I do that? I haven't found an option where I can change the default storage path for user data of Intellisync......

Any Idea?

I unbranded my phone following the tutorial in this link http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=344689 . You need to find the product code for your country. Maybe you can ask/find it in the thread. When the phone is unbranded it can be updated to the latest firmware via Nokia Software Updater. I did this in may and my phone has worked perfect since then.

I too upgrade my firmware from 1.06 to 2.06 (as per instructions on the 3 website) and can now no longer establish a 3G connection. 3 Technical Support (what a load of rubbish) advised me to take the phone to a Nokia Service Centre. Has anybody else had any luck with reactivating 3G post upgrade? How did you do it?

Thanks in advance.

Andrew, if you go to: http://europe.nokia.com/A4149167

You will see a program there called sms accelerator for series 60 devices. It will speed up your sms quite a bit. It is free from Nokia.

Ashy, 0523307 Euro-A Silver is the one to use when de-branding a E61 on 3. With the unlocking, I don't have a DKU-5 cable either. Which phone did you get it with? However, from what I've read online, the 'Dejan BB5 Unlock' you mention doesn't work with the E61. If you do manage to try it, please post your results!

Hey doghouse, I experimented with the same stuff u did in october last year. Got the phone debranded, was hoping for an unlock as well but no joy. Anyhow, the phones much quicker now that 3's crap is not there. Anyway, back to the unlocking issue. Try looking up 'Dejan BB5 Unlock'. Got all the softwares required downloaded a couple of days back. But cant proceed for now coz i dont have a damn DKU-5 data cable!( gave it to a mate ). The procedure wont work if u use a DKU-2 cable...tried it. Will try it this weekend when i get the right cable. Updates later

Okay... I've decided to attempt it anyway. This is my experimentation with a E61 on the 3 Network in the UK:
0537459 E61 (3 UK Customisation): Crippled web browser (no cursor and website preview); No Network Mode menu under SETTINGS | Network; 3 Logo animation on startup and 3 wallpaper etc...

0538289 E61 UK Country Variant - Keyboard works, and you get a Network Mode menu allowing DUAL MODE, GSM or UMTS. However, the Operator Selection menu vanished! Tons of other software like PTT, Navigator and some other rubbish.

0523307 Euro-A Silver - Keyboard works, you get Network Mode & Operator Selection menus. Otherwise, it seems to be like the UK Country Variant above. Web browser lets you use the cursor and you get tons of other software on the phone.

At this stage, I'd suggest the Euro-A Silver firmware. Unfortunately, you'll end up with a load of pre-loaded rubbish which I can't quite figure out what it does.

A word of warning: If you backed up your data (Contacts, Text Messages etc...) to your PC using the PC Suite software, when you restore them back to the newly flashed handset, DO NOT restore the "Settings"! Icons and menus vanish and you'll end up with the original 3 UK Customisation but with the Nokia wallpaper. Weird. A HARD RESET (See: http://www.e-series.org/codes/ ) will wipe all your settings & contents and put things back to the "Just Flashed" stage.

Unfortunately, changing the firmware DOES NOT remove the SIM LOCK. If anyone has any ideas on how to unlock this handset, please do share it with us.

I have a E61 on 3UK, Product Code 0537459.
I'm trying to remove the branding and get back the DUAL MODE / GSM mode menu. Should I be using:
0538289 E61 UK Country Variant
or
0523307 Euro-A Silver
?
What are the differences between the two? Are there any problems with the keyboard? Which one give you back the DUAL MODE / GSM / UTMS network mode menu?

Thanks in advance!

Hi All,
I bought an E-61 recently in Kenya. IT runs on firmware version 3.0633.09.04 Other info reads 20-11-06 RM-89 0523307. I have noticed 2 problems barely 2 days after buying it.
1) Phone reboots when browsing or trying to read sms messages
2) When launching messaging the phone takes exactly 20seconds to display the options/folders ie inbox, outbox, sent, etc.

Being in Kenya, i have no option of service centre for Nokia. Has any of you experienced this and does doing a firmware upgrade(if there is a newer version) help.
Much Thanks
