The first time I heard about Vaja was three months ago when a reader of the E-series.org wrote to me and absolutely raved about a leather case he had bought for the Nokia E61 from Vaja.
Since then there has been many blogs and customers praising Vaja for their carefully crafted handmade leather cases for the Nokia E61 - The Vitelino. Now I join them.
The package is simple and very stylish in a nice iPodeque way. As soon as you pick up the Vitelino you can tell that it is meticulously crafted. The seams are perfectly even and everything with the case feels flawless.
The case fits perfectly with the Nokia E61. All controls, buttons, ports and connectors are accessible through detailed cut-outs. There is also a speaker mesh protector.

The Vitelino can be customized in a number of ways including a wide variety of colors, belt clips and even personalizied with logo or name. It is truly a unique, handmade case. As for everything of exceptional quality you pay for a premium product. The baseline case is $60 but for that you get the crème de la crème of cases for the Nokia E61.

Niceeeeee!!
Givf
Thanks Andrew. I like it a lot!
Daniel, “Givf”… don’t get it, tell me what does it mean?
admin: Simple, Givf means Give me
Don’t know its swenglish (swedish-english) or just World of Warcraft-releated word.
I want to make the same one… which one is that?
which leather type one is that and forgot to ask this, which color is it?
i want one. but at 60 a pop, i don’t think i can afford it. hehehe
Check out the Fortte cases (http://www.fortte.com). Picked up an Open Face E61 case for $32 shipped and am very impressed. Obviously, not as nice as the Vaja but a VERY similar design and at less than half the price (the vaja is $77 shipped, this one is $32) I could not be happier.
Does this one have a plastic film to protect the display? If not, is there any other leather case that has it?
Yes, it has a plastic film to protect the screen of the Nokia E61.
Thanks for the explanation Daniel. I feel enligthened
Does the flap and press studs at the top add a noticable amount to the thickness?
Not much, there is a small added thickness to the top, where the studs are but it’s not much.

Just as nice as my Noreve case (with cover)
Hello everyone,
I would like to know ho do you guys usually wear this pnohe throughout the day? I’ve seen our admins’ new case, but what is the purpose of that case without any belt clip? I just don’t get it may be :(.
Thank you.
I forgot to answer one important question: which case (color) is it:

Hi Insomniac,
I didn’t see your question (haven’t had my coffee yet), you can get a clip for the Vaja case. I choose not to but it is an option.
I love vaja products! I ordered one for my iPod nano and will be ordering one for my E61. They cost a mint, but they are AWESOME!
Where do you keep the phone then all day round? It is pretty big to fit into my jeans’ pocket without pressuriing it.
I’m guessing you can’t keep the case on when using your charging cradle?
As a woman, I prefer to NOT have a belt clip on any of my e-gadets. Belt clips get caught on everything inside a woman’s purse. I only want the case to protect my E61 from key scratches and lip stick marks
Rebecca,
LOL!
Yes, Mike you are right. I do need to remove it from the case in order to use the cradle. They were two very seperate purchases…
I have the Vaja case for E61, and after just 3 weeks, the very thick plastic screen protector got so scratched, that I am returning the unit for a “one time replacement” under warranty.
The Vaja company is great for their product support, but I have a couple other cases with plastic screen overlays, and the Vaja one just doesn’t cut it. I am truely disappointed with this design flaw, and will only be using this case (the replacement once received) as a showpiece for a dinner out or to impress.
I would be very curious if others with this case experience the same screen scratching that I did.
Cheers! Darrell.
Check PielFrama. In my opinion it’ s the best PDA/Mobile case manufacturer. All their cases are hand-made and the quality of the leather used is fantastic. They are not cheap though.

Well I specificity avoided cases with screen protector bacause of the scratcthing. Instread I got a flipcover (pictures here: http://www.fysioterapiklinikken.dk )
Is there a Promotional Code for this case? My total comes to $87 with Int’l shipping! =(
If someone is looking for a lowcost cover, I would recommend Krusell PDA case. It is economical, about $30. I’m having one and absolutely love it.

The Vajacases.com Pronounced Va-Ha not Va-Jah or VA-JA, has had this case since August at least. In comparison to the other cases, this case simply doesn’t compare. Write into them asking for a case like they have for the Razor or Treo 650, etc. Perhaps they’ll produce one for the E61
There’s a site: http://www.shieldzone.com. They produce amazing protection for various devices. They don’t have the E61 on their list… but I bet if you all write into them, they will produce a full wrap skin for the E61. For now you can get custom protection for the screen only.
Before you write this off, just look at the demo videos.
I purchased the skin for my Nano. Trust me, you’ll love this!
Just wondering…, why isnt anyone considering the original case??
I have had a Vaja case for just over a week now. My only gripe is that it collects dust under the plastic screen cover.
That said, its a thing of beauty.
I have been using a Vaja case for the last few weeks… love it!!!!
Just want to share my finds on the case,

In my opinion the best case for Nokia E61 is Blackberry 8700 holster. You can get one from Amazon.com for around $18. Here is the exact link: http://www.amazon.com/Blackberry-Leather-Holster-Swivel-ACC-10540-003/dp/B000ER8MT0/sr=8-8/qid=1158645953/ref=pd_bbs_8/102-6871671-7344105?ie=UTF8&s=wireless
Don’t forget to get a screen protector from ebay.com. Get something by Clarivue.
What color is that case?
What’s the best E70 case out there?
I got the original Nokia case (CP-111) for $20. Fits snugly, is holster-style and allows me to keep my keys in my pocket without fear of scratches. The only negative is that while in the case you cannot connect the ear headset, but then, I hardly need to use that. I prefer using the phone without a case, but just having the case for safe storage…

The best case is still Krusell Classic. Why?
1. The clear front covers the ENTIRE face of the phone - only the joystick and power button have cutouts.
2. The plastic screen guard is resistant to scratches!
3. All sides are protected; the Vaja leaves cutouts in the corners of the E61 and they can be bumped/scratched.
4. The Krusell clip system, to me, is the most versatile as it has many models of clips/mounts
5. Cheaper than Vaja.
[...] A good and cheap alternative for fancy leather Nokia E61 cases are the many different crystal clear hard plastic covers available on eBay. They are cheap and surprisingly rugged. However, should they get scratched they are cheap enough to replace. [...]

Thank you for this post, I have ordered the Vaja Case just like the one you show and gave it to myself for Christmas. It arrived yesterday. One thing that I notice is the plastic cover on the case ‘bulges’ at the bottom, leaving a space of about 3/8′ or so, inviting the dirt to come in. I wonder if someone knows how to make the protector ‘flush’ to the screen, either by twisting the casing or by any other means? Otherwise, fine piece of case!
Hi - where can I buy either the battery cover for my nokia e 50 (lost it) or…the whole OEM housing..which I think comes with the battery cover. Thx.
Ypu can buy it from here:

If anyone wants the best no fuss usable case, walmart has it. I picked it up for under $10 when I had a treo 650. I decided to put my e61 in it and it fits like a glove. It’s a solid clip on that lets you take the phone out easily. Belive me I’ve tried many others. Funny how the least expensive one is the best for me.
I have NOT had a positive experience with this case.
Despite only storing the case in a pants pocket, or lined backpack pocket, the built-in screen protector got incredibly scratched after only 2 weeks of use. It is so bad that I have difficulty reading parts of the E61 screen through it.
When I wrote to Vaja customer care with my concerns, they replied that any scratches were my own fault, and not the result of any production flaw.
They did not offer to fix the case until several emails were exchanged.
Even then, Vaja made it clear that I would be responsible for any postage expenses (internationally since I am based in Europe), and that they would have to inspect the case in person before deciding whether my request had any merit.
I have previously purchased two cases from Vaja for my older Sony Clie and T610 mobile phone. After this latest experience with an E61 case, and the extremely unhelpful and rude customer care, I will never purchase from them ever again.
Buyer beware!!!
Would it be possible to apply screen protectors to both sides of the built in protector so as to protect the protector? lol
