Finally Friday - Time For Some Nokia E61 Themes
It’s been one hectic week in the land of Nokia E-series devices. The week couldn’t have started off better with the release of the do-it-yourself Nokia Phone Software Updates for the E-series. The firmware upgrade for the Nokia E61 seems to have gone smoothly for most of us (knock on wood) with BlackBerry Connect and Mail For Exchange still working fine.
Tuesday wasn’t too bad either with the US announcement of the Cingular branded Nokia E62. Wednesday was dedicated to two VoIP solutions for the Nokia E61 and yesterday I showed off
the Vaja case for the Nokia E61 - Phew!
I think it is appropriate to end the working week with something lightweight - some Nokia E61 themes.
My dear uncle had a stroke yesterday so I think posting two dark, somber themes are in order.
The Dark Theme by alexandr3
Pearl Black by Alexx
More themes for Nokia E61 and Nokia E62 on the themes page.
As always, let me know if you have made any themes you would like me to list here or let me know what your favorite theme is.

Something weird happened today. After a missed call, my phone was really slow. Theme was Fire and it was installed on my mini SD card. I turned off the phone, waited for a few seconds and then turned it back on again. When it came back on, the theme was no longer Fire but the original Nokia theme….weird!
Then, I went into Tools –> Themes and tried to change the theme back to Fire. Lo and behold, Fire is no longer there. Weird. So, next I proceeded to re-install Fire by double-clicking on the .sis file which I re-downloaded from e-series.org. It comes up with a warning saying that the Fire theme was incompatible for this phone and asked whether I would like to continue, so I continued…
After that, it popped up an error msg saying “Unable to install”.
Any ideas on what happened guys??
TIA!
Andrew

Firstly I would like to say I am truly sorry to hear about your uncle. My best wishes to you and your family.
Secondly, I keep trying to load apps but most importantly themes and I keep getting the following error “Certificate error. Contact application supplier.” I have had this for a few ups and most themes.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nicholas

Your theme is beautiful Alexandr3. So simple and serene - fit my mood perfectly. However, I will use it during more happier times as well!

Andrew Vong,
It sounds like there might be a problem with your memory card. I had a similar issue once when I dropped my phone.
Try reinserting the card.
If that does not work the card may be bad.

Hi Rob,
First of all, thanks so much for answering my question. I’ve been searching the net (since I posted my question here) for a clue as to what had happened but haven’t been making any progress.
So you think it’s the memory card huh? Well, I pressed on the on/off button –> chose “Remove mem. card” –> and then removed it –> then re-inserted it back.
Still the same. Still can’t see the mysterious disappearing “Fire” theme.
I suspect that the OS still thinks that Fire is still installed and therefore whenever I try to re-install it, it gives me an “Unable to intstall” error message.
I went into Menu –> Tools –> App. mgr. –> Options –> View Log — and it shows that Fire (0.00) was Installed BUT never removed.
However, whenever I go to Menu –> Tools –> Themes, “Fire” is NOT listed.
Somehow, the main “registry” must be corrupted or something.
Anyone know what else I could do to rectify this problem?
TIA!

Andrew,
I have not experienced this type of problem before but have seen various reports of people having problems with cards. The general recommendation that I have seen is to reformat.
-Use a card reader and copy the contents of the card to a PC (make sure you get hidden files as well)
-Format the card (Fat32)
-Copy the files back to the card.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Rob. Will embark on it and report back here later.
Thanks again!

A quick feedback to Alexandr3 and Ed,
I may have stumbled upon small oversight in the DARK theme.
In the Nokia Web browser, there’s a kind of auto fill function on the address bar i.e. if we type www in the address bar a pop-up window appears with all the previous addresses typed starting with http://www.
The trouble is with the DARK theme, both the back ground colour of this window and the text that appears in it are in black making the text invisible. The only way to view the address entries is to highlight the each of those entries.
Apart from that, as Ed put it, the dark theme is simple and serene

That’s the problem with all the black themes i’ve found. Many are super class but all those that I’ve tried have color bugs which render them unusable (the problem in the web browser is just one of them, if you keep using the theme, you’ll see that there are several other places where the the text appears black on black). I have yet to find a black theme that doesn’t have this problem. And the problem is that i can’t find the contact infos of the creator of these theme to let them know about the problem.

vioccc…
funny enough, i’ve been scouring the web for alexandr3 with no luck
And yes you are right about the colour bug, black on black is present in other places too but when i was writng up the comment, just couldn’t remeber them.
Lets hope this particular author stops by (based on his commets to the top of this blog) here more frequently.

I really like the Pearl Black theme but would like to make a few small mods using the theme studio. Unfortunately you can’t decompile the SIS file so I was hoping to get a copy of the original project file from “Alexx” but there is no contact info… any ideas?

How would i delete unwanted themes? i cant seem to figure it out
September 22nd, 2006 at 4:58 am
it’s quite easy,
Manu->Tools->App.Manager->
**highlight the unwanted theme from the list (please note the App.Manager will list all installed apps and themes so depending on how many you’ve got on your card+phone memory you may have to exhaust the thumb pointer alot
)
-> Options -> Remove!!!

It´s a great theme. I though get a bug. If I want to goto to a another url on the web browser I can´t see what I am writing. it seems that the font is white on a white background. Any fix for this?
