Let The Modding Begin - Black Nokia E61
I knew it would just be a matter of time before we got to see some seriously pimped Nokia E61. I am a big fan of modding and has been looking forward to seeing some differently colored Nokia E61.
Let it be known that I throw down my glove. Where are the pictures of the steel blue Nokia E61, or perhaps the red Nokia E61 or something else. Send me your pictures please!

What sort of paint do you use for this sort of thing? Is it durable?

This was not painted, i purchased replaced shells off ebay for about 15 us dollars shipped. There are many different colors shells on ebay. Example red, navy blue, jet black and pink.
i recently purchased a set of pink shells for my girlfriend thry should be delivered shortly. Ill send pics to ed when i do.

Looks nice but would look alot better with a black keyboard.
Look on ebay for some sellers with new housings in black/pink and blue. I would get the black one but the keyboard is still silver

And what about E70? Is it possible to replace plastic on it?
I like black devices much more than silver but it is a BIG problem to find black E70 here in Russia. :0)

i lose my internet connection for 3 days and find this! arrgh! you beat me to a case mod on the E61. btw, it is really nice.i was initially planning to “mask” my phone (check http://www.gmsk.com.ph) but they did not have all black.can someone lead me to an ebay legit seller that i can trust to buy casings for my E61? thanks.

I was thinking about doing a chromed version of the E61. I have recently replaced a scratched cover with a new one and now have an old set of spare parts. I just need to find someone who can make the chrome parts…

My opinion on the warranty.
This phone E61 was made for European market so nokia US don’t cover the warranty for these if you need to fix your phone (which i hope not!!) you need to ship it to Finland.

Well, I purchased mine in Singapore and I believe they have Nokia Service Centres in S’pore. So, I guess I won’t have to send it to Finland should I need it fixed. My only worry is that they void the warranty as soon as I fiddle around with the cover…hehe.

I don’t think there is a way for nokia to tell whether the cover has been removed or not. Unless of course you damage something during the process…

Hehe, let’s hope I don’t. I sure hope they don’t have one of those sticker thingys where it kinda rips when you remove the original cover. For e.g. lots of computer parts like hard disks have that type of “warranty protection” stickers to tell whether you’ve been naughty or not. :p

ive checked around the phone and theres no stickers or indicators that would let Nokia know that item was opened. the only thing i can think of is if you damaged something during the progress. Example the black face plate which can be alittle tricky

Earlier today I ordered a black aftermarket E61 housing on Ebay and just now I found a website which sells OEM E61 housing. It’s blueunplugged.com. I placed an order for the front fascia and the small top back cover.

It’s from Sunspre? Sunspere? on eBay although they might be out of pink right now, they do have black and blue faceplates.
