Graphic Grey Nokia E61

In the world of modding, doing the paint job yourself, is a notch above buying prepainted parts. Andres took the Nokia E61 modding to new levels and did the paint job himself.

Andres writes "I just finished my new E61 case mod. I used some Honda (Accura in theUS) S25 "graphic grey" which can be seen on S2000 roadster cars :). This is a dark grey with a metallic look. You don't see the metallic effect on my pictures to well, but in natural light it really looks great. Of course I had to cover the buttons and the message led with some duct tape in order not to paint them over. I'm really satisfied with the new look. It's different than blackberrys which have a flat black and it still has some shiny effect when it's put into sunlight."

Thanks for sharing the pictures Andres. Your Graphic Grey E61 looks *great*!

Feel inspired? ;-) If you plan to, or have already modded your Nokia E61 please share your pictures with us.

wow looks great. i would prolly do that to replacement cases when i get enough scratches on it. Goos job, keep up the good work

  6. Andres aka Risotto Says:

I used a replaced case which I scratched quite badly. Now, after the paint job it looks like new. I just need to get one of those S2000 now that I got a phone matching the paint :) .

    Hey Andres,

    Can you make more?
I would love to have one!

    :)

I just changed facing on my Nokia E61 from the standard silver to the ebay-purchased black one.

It looks great with the silver keys in my opinion but it does not fit as good as the original. Feels a bit loose and if you shake it you hear that it is not fitted perfectly. Still going to keep it just for the looks of it ;).

  10. Martin Says:

    Hello again,
It seems like I have commented postively on the new facing a bit too soon. The on / off button just fell off and another small part of the shell is really loose.

The material is way more vulnerable than the original and this does not seem to be a permanent solution. Sure if you can get it cheap on ebay then it is perhaps worth trying out since the procedure of changing it is really simple.

Either way I am back to my good old silver facing that still looks amazing ;)

Hey Andres, as many have said … you did a great job. I’d like to do the same thing. Tell me how you did actually? How many layer of paint and from which distance you’ve been spreading the paint. Did you use any “fixing” product in order to fix and stabilize the paint and make it “glossy” that way ? Thanks for your answer :) !
ps: what is the S2000 color?

  12. Marco Says:

Andres id you use two different cases ? I mean is it possible to detached them from the e61 ? ( front face and back cadse ) .

  13. Michael Says:

Is there any skill in making the painting spreaded evenly?

  14. Zahid Says:

I NEED to know how you did this Andres!!! The paint job looks smooth as hell. Would I be able remove the faceplate housing and paint it? What steps did you use? Can you do us all a favor and walk us through this STEP-BY-STEP? Thanks…
