I had the same syncing problems for a long time on my Nokia E61i. I tried the plugin from Nokia site it worked for a while but then it didn't update any contacts that I add on my phone to the mac.

However, if you create another user on your mac (OSX 10.4.10) (without installing the Nokia plugin), it works very well via Bluetooth. My friends tell me that the address book library files on the mac could possibly be the problem. When you create a new user, the library files are reset.

Final thoughts: Most of the initial information that turns up after a search, on this issue, could be misleading. If this trick works for you, reseting the address book library files may help.

Can anyone get the E61i to synchronize with a macbook pro (iSync 2.4, OS 10.4.10)?
I'm trying with the Nokia iSync plugin, but get "synchronization fails" every time.
Any ideas? Any 3rd party products that will work?

why not simply use Itunes Agent - http://ita.sourceforge.net/

also works for your synchronizing all your toys, incl. Oakleys Thump etc.

For those of you getting the error

"Device is not available or synchronization was cancelled. Close dialogs and applications on the phone and try again"

this is caused by a missing default synchronisation profile. Instructions on how to create one are here:

I am running old firmware (2.xxx) on nokia e61, and OSX 10.4.9 on my mac. isync used to work with mactomster plug-ins for OSX 10.4.8, but the native client for 10.4.9 does not work with my firmware, as my phone aborts during the sync process. Or perhaps there is some other problem, but I'll let you know once I've updated firmware.

How does one sync e61 with itunes? I've not seen that before...

Nokia E60, MackBook Pro.

Upgraded to Mac OS X 10.4.9 and Novamedia plugins stopped working (kept getting 'The connection was lost' message before completion of sync).

Next, made mistake of installing the Nokia plugins without first un-installing the Novamedia ones - same problem. Tried new version of Novamedia plugins - no joy.

Finally, read the FAQs in the Novamedia manual, which hint at what you should do:
1) Uninstall Novamedia plugins.
2) Install the official (Nokia) plugins.

All working fine now.
