Vanity Dialing On The Nokia E62
The Nokia E62 is the first carrrier branded device I have bought for a long time. One of the benefits of buying a carrier branded device is of course the support you get. Something you are not easily entitled to when you buy an unbranded, often grey imported phone. Another benefit is that the device is localized.
I have missed "Vanity Dialling" (1-800-Go-ACME) on the Nokia E61 so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that Vanity Dialling is a feature implemented on the Nokia E62. Just press the "Char" key and the letters.

Some people will be pissed that the E61 doesnt have that feature…yet. hard to decipher which numbers correspond to which letter when dialing numbers such as 1-800-IMPATIENT4THEMES.

This sounds like a nice little utility that a symbian developer could write for the E61.

No, people do care about this I know I do. This is a feature that is sorely missed not only on the E61 but Blackberrys and other qwerty devices without the alphanumeric keypads. It would be great to see a firmware or software update to add this feature…Nokia where you at???
As for the themes, Im sure this is not the only thing Ed does for a living so calm down, Im sure they will be posted soon. If you want them faster then go out and by a E62.

Most often needed when you hit a voicemail system that wants you to “enter the last name of the person you are attempting to reach”. I’ve got the key codes on a cheat sheet, but I’d just assume not carry it. Hey, we could just fix this with a theme, right?!?

Oke all you knitwits: nobody of the E61 target group cares for this in their E61 cause the E61 ISN’T targeted @ US customers, which happen to be the ONLY users for this vanity crap. So stop caring about it… If a blackberry doesn’t have it (which IS targeted @ US market) then BB is (as we allready new) pretty crap actually….
