Bluetooth Keyboard For Nokia E61
Before you get rid of your old, foldable Bluetooth Keyboard and upgrade to the Nokia Wireless Keyboard SU-8W you should give it a second try. Chances are that your old Bluetooth keyboard will work with your just fine with your Nokia E61.
The Nokia Wireless Keyboard application for the SU-8W works with other Bluetooth keyboards as well. The below ThinkOutside keyboard, branded as Dell, works great with the Nokia E61.
Just download and install the Wireless Keyboard Application from Nokia. In use it is blissfully simple. Open the keyboard and type!
Thanks Neil!

The application will install just fine on the E62 as well, though I can’t vouch for performance. The only BT keyboard I have is my Apple one and that one won’t connect

Anyone have any luck getting an IR keyboard to work? They seem to use less juice.

What about the symbian key? I don’t have a bt keyboard yet and have been considering the Nokia one, but it doesn’t have a lap lock… Any recommendations? Thanks.

works great with my apple BT keyboard!
But when you connect the kb. to the computer put the BT off on the e61/2. Else the wont connect.

Robert you’re right, one doesn’t really need a keyboard with the E61/62 but it’s great to have anyway if you are really busy at work and/or home office as I am. I’ve been using my Nokia SU-8W for 2 years and totally love it with no issue whatsoever.
I especially love the dedicated keys (e.g., e-mail, menu, soft keys). I actually have one for the office at work, which I purchased for over $100CAD and got one for the home office when the price dropped more than half just a few months ago. Sometimes I’m typing away thinking it’s the laptop keyboard by accident. The sleek housing gets as much attention as the keyboard itself.

I just might buy a BT Keyboard… I’ve been thinking about it for a while and now you post about it!
Thanks Ed!

What about a bluetooth mouse with the nokia E61 ?
I think it would be great for web browsing , instead of using the stick .

Where did you get the Nokia SU-8W keyboard for 100 CDN and now you are saying the prices have dropped. Everywhere, I am looking its more than 150 CDN still? I am confused.

Vakul, you are right about the price… I was checking out eBay, they had two and one of them not good seller the other for a price of $125… too much!

I purchased a Think Outside BT keyboard to use with my e62, and downloaded the driver from Nokia. Everything works great except for the righ selection key and the menu key. The Windows key acts as left selection, but I’m stuck with these other two commands. Anyone else have any luck?

To Vakul. Sorry I didn’t see your response sooner. I purchased my SU-8W keyboards at a Rogers store in Montreal (Quebec), Canada. Rogers is a wireless provider in Canada. The stores here tend to have different prices at anytime but not consistently. One store will sell it for almost the same price as Nokia web site, another for $100+, and another for $70+. Bill, I too just got the ThinkOutside bluetooth keyboard today. I bought it from a friend for $50, pretty much brand new. I had tried it before without luck, as I did not know I needed a program. After reading this post I set out to either buy one new or get my friend’s. So far it is awesome, no lag time either with the key presses. It does seem that none of the blue functions work, and I have not found any other key combos to get either the right soft key or the menu key to work. The keyboard is already awesome as it is, it would be even cooler if those keys worked. If anyone wants to get one, you can get them off Office Depot’s website for $90 + $5 shipping, best price I had found.
It’s a match made in heaven:

Thank you for posting that the software for the Nokia E62 SU-8W KB also works for the Think Outside KB. I almost returned it!

yeah I really fancy the idea of having a bluetooth mouse connected to me E6X. Browse easily or just fire up Scumm or whatever and play old school games just like it was intended to be played; with a mouse and not a mob-joystick.
Does anybody know of such ongoing work from nokia or any thirdparty developer? I would pay _alot_ for such a device…for sure.

the bluetooth mouse idea could be solved with some software - and using some available bluetooth mouse like logitech’s mx900 (i have one) … i was looking for a way to use my e61 AS a bluetooth keyboard on my laptop - any ideas?

I am typing from my N82 & Apple BT keyboard. This works reat togeather.
I am trying to explore more on this keyboard . The typing speed is almost the same as that of a normal keyboard or even more as the keys are too comfortable to use.
I am not sure if they have a black version as they current white keys ay get dirty after sometime.
