The Nokia E61 generated some great press coverage in the month of October. Strategy Analytics rated the Nokia E61 the best new Converged Device. The Nokia E61 achieved higher user ratings for both style/design as well as usability.
Strategy Analytics reports that the Motorola Q was a disappointment because of the poor build quality and durability. Something my Moto Q carrying friends and sources at Verizon have confirmed. The Q also rated the lowest score for physical input and joint lowest score for applications and menu organization (no surprise here given the OS of the Q
The Nokia E61 also received five stars in a review in T3 and was described as “strong like an ox and sneaky like a fox…an unstoppable powerhouse” by Stuff Magazine.
It also got a score of 9/10 in most categories in a test by Mobile Business. I hope this translates into even more optimized applications and services for the E61!
Thanks Matt & CyberDog!

I just cant get more happy,, this phone is great…. we all are getting one at our center http://www.turbino.dk where we are getting the wifi app.
Ditto, I really like my E61.
I have an E62. It’s OK. It replaced a P910 and was my best choice here in The States. No Series 60 phone, however can beat a UIQ phone in terms of ability to customize how the phone behaves - heck with a Series 60 phone I can’t event program shortcuts or set-up more than 8 speed-dial numbers…so…better than a P990? I highly doubt the capabilities of the tester!
Congrats to all E61 users… Im very much happy that t3mag did pick the best choice, and i agree with that..
if you compare E61 from P990, E61 rocks.. both have wifi, both are running on symbianOS, although P990 have built-in camera, who cares? no foncam can beat the digital camera in terms of quality, and best of all, E61 is cheaper if you compare it to P990.
therefore, E61 is the real winner..
It really erks me when I think about my E62 not having WiFi - it’s Cingular’s way of squeezing every penny out of expensive data plans. I can’t wait until we are at the point where enough customers demand WiFi on cellphones to where it becomes as common as a camera is on cellphones today. That in itself could bring the prices of data plans down which would be a good thing for the non-business users who want internet everywhere.
glad to hear that. got mine few months ago and never regret of getting E61 since then
I loved my E61 till I got my E70 , smaller screen but I like the candy bar form factor , I was able to run all my software which I was runinng on E61 on E70
Hi,
I also think the Nokia E61 phone is great.
What I think is missing are:
- a radio.
- Support for Java ME/CDC1.1/PP1.1

Ove
I have purchased the E61 a few months ago and absolutley love it. It’s got all the capabilities of a PDA with Blackberry connectivity that keeps me in touch with my office whilst I am on the go.
I bought both P990i and E61.
After breaking my Clie TG50, and loosing my T610, I’ve decided to move to the smatphone or PDA Phone segment.
However, after waiting over 10 months for P990i, and actual using it, I came to realize that it is a very not ergo-friendly phone.
I’ve used my friend’s P900 and it was much easier than the 4th generation SE’s P series phone.
The UIQ 3.0 is so not stable compared to S60 V3.0.
I set a song MP3 as my ringtone on the P990 and cannot answer any call but to have it automatically restart.
And the pictures taken with the same phone (P990i) cannot use it as wallpaper, unless you find it out that have to use the internal picture editor and crop it or re-save it in a lower resolution.
The Menu, you cannot use it with one hand, and most of the time, you have to open the flip to access other functions.
While using it, you have to pull out the stylus which is on the other side of the phone.
Anyway, I’m have heavy user, both PDA and mobile phone. I’m young but started earlier with these gadgets.
I must tell all BlackBerry users, or P800/P900/P910/P990, if you want a real phone with expansion (memory), and one hand access, and don’t care much about a camera, then get yourself a E61.
I have even put 4 movies ripped from DVD into 2GB Mini SD card and still have over 300 MB free space.
Few colleagues are very interested in getting one E61 for themselves.
E61 rocks…
i am a recent convert of treo 600 to the e61. how do you guys deal with the slow speed of the PIM? it takes like 5 sec (literally) to open a contact?
Richard
You can setup shortcuts like better than most other phones… get some help from a forum dedicated to E61, assuming the same applies to E62. Then…. enjoy
I have to agree I love the E61, however I just picked up the Tmobile Dash (HTC S620) and it gives the E61 a serious run for its money. I am shocked how well it stacks up to the E and I am really close to making it my full time device. Stability, speed, form factor, overall its very good. I love my Eseries but could it be coming to an end
to nebber, i have only 100+ contacts. it only take a while (1-2 sec) to open up the contact for the 1st time when you switch the simcard. i store all my contacts in sdcard. next time i open up the contacts it almost display right away
Oh..forgot to mention that java on E61 is slow. I love my E61, but when in a boast-off with a collegue (Blackberry 8700c), it let me down with Java speed and speakerphone loudness. That is a definite downside
… but I still have my E61.
I have a E62 and i like it. The only problem i have is that it takes forever to open emails. When i receive sms it is fast to open them. Is there a diferent email client i should use. I have a HP ipaq 6945 and i lke the keyboard better on the E62.
To the E62 users: i have a wlan in my home and office, and while it is excellent, I find myself using the 3G in these environments simply because wifi kill the battery within a few hours if left connected. An auto-disconnect-when-inactive would have been great. The higher LAN speed only makes a difference when downloading files, as the processor becomes the bottleneck when browsing. Did I mention that the browser is great! I really love this device, and am just sad that the E61i and E90 are already on their way.
E61 is slow to respond to key press, dispite me updating many firmware versions at any change I get, press the joy stick and count 1.5 seconds its open, this does not sound a lot but when going to menu, select, sub application, or waiting for emails or text to open the seconds add up and feel like my life is wasting away, when you use it as much as me. My work Blackberry pearl and now the new Blackberry 8800 is much faster and better for daily use. I still have the E61 for the RDP software I loaded in and the TomTom software (used with TomTom’s own external Bluetooth GPS Adaptor) so for the Symbian its good in that regard, one device for Blackberry inside software, TomTom, RDP client, Gmail application the only thing stopping me move to Blackberry is only the TomTom software does not run on it. I do like Nokia but they always just miss the mark for me.
