Make your Nokia E61 Sound Like a Nokia 8800
A phone I find extremely beautiful is the Nokia 8800. I had the great opportunity to try out a friend’s Nokia 8800 for a short while. Oh boy, was it ever hard to give it back to my friend… Every single part of the device is of premium quality. Everything from the state of the art sliding mechanism (the same amazing feeling you get from opening and closing a Mercedes-Benz door), the scratch resistant screen to the exquisite sounds of the Nokia 8800. This device is pure elegance and brilliant luxury.
However, as you all know I’m an E-series kind of guy. While the look of the Nokia 8800 is out of reach for me I can at least make my E-Series devices sound like a Nokia 8800.
The ringtones, alarms and sounds of the Nokia 8800 sounds as amazing as the device looks. Nokia went to great length when they put together this device and commissioned the famous composer Ryuichi Sakamoto to create the sounds of the Nokia 8800.
A few of these amazing sounds are available from Nokia’s website. Just download the clips, Forest Alarm Tone, Zamapar Tone, Dharma Tone and Nokia Tone, transfer them to your device.
Go to Tools > Profiles > Options > Personalize and add your new sounds to the event of your choice.
Thanks SakamotoFan!

Had a 8800 but was stolen from my car, nice to get that 8800 feeling again as I had those tones set as my default on the 8800 and now its on my E61!

I was given one of this 8800 by my friend, but I am looking buy one E61 or E70 soon. Trust me, except the look, the price and the envy you get from few(yeah, just few, not many people really know this high-end phone in NZ, I suppose) people seeing you use it. It is just one ordinary phone. I perfer multi-function phone, this high price ordinary phone just doesnt work for me. Choose what you really need! Like The E-Series!

Always nice to get a few more well-made tones.. These don’t do it for me, but they’re definitely well-done..

I have a friend who had a 8800 but has given it up because of the terrible battery life. The fact that it comes with two batteries is a bit of clue here.

Cool Ed. Oh, is that Hot Sun that catch my right eye?

These sounds are nice but not from 8800 Sirocco. These are from Ryuichi Sakomoto not Brian Eno.
November 12th, 2006 at 9:49 am
Do pardon me. I owns a E61 but I dont know how to choose the ringtones which are downloaded. I know that I can personalize them (the profiles) via the Tools > Profiles > Options > Personalize but I cant see the ringtones (the ones I downloaded and stored in my minisd.
Thank you in advance.

Alex is right, Sakomoto did the sounds for the Nokia 8800 while Brian Eno did the sound for the newer Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition. In the article both phones are shown, the first two pictures are incorrect in regard to the article, though, as they depict a Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition.

Hi,
I had an e61 on trial a couple of months ago, but sent it back because the e61i was coming. The e61i is missing some of my favourite ringtones from the e61. Are the original e61 ringtones available to download anywhere? A list of the names would do (the techno one i’m after begins with a ‘D’) so that i can hit google.

THESE ARE NOT TONES FROM NOKIA 8800 SIROCCO EDITION.
Ok, firstly… the links available above are Ryuichi Sakamoto composed ring tones for Nokia 8800.Forest alarm, Zamapara, Dharma and etc… debuted on the Nokia’s 8800 phone.
These however, are NOT the ones exclusive to the Sirocco. Nokia 8800 Sirocco Editions are best known for ringtones composed by the ambient music legend, Brian Eno.
It’s appalling how even owners of Siroccos don’t know the difference! Know your music!

Glad to see so many people like Sakamoto, his English counterpart, Brian Eno also composed tones for the same phone, I have them all on my 6233 in Asia. Here is the link:

by the way the Sakaomoto’s link didn’t work here but I found another site that did have them:
