I *heart* Mail2Web LIVE
You can’t beat free. Especially when what you get is a great, useful product or service. One such a great service I stumbled across is Mail2Web LIVE. A free email service based on Microsoft Exchange. Because it is Microsoft Exchanged based, and Mail For Exchange is available as a free download for your Nokia E-Series device you can get free push email on your device.
The set up is very easy. You sign up for Mail2Web LIVE, download and install the Mail For Exchange client on your Nokia E61 and you are up and running.
By signing up to Mail2web LIVE you will get a @mail2web.com email address that is based on Microsoft Exchange 2003 server. You can access your email, calendar, contacts etc through a web interface but the exciting part is the free push email and more feature.
Web2Mail LIVE will push your email, calendar and contacts to your Nokia E-Series device, just like any other Microsoft Exchange implementation.
This is a great service for someone who either wants to just take Microsoft Exchange and Mail For Exchange for a test drive, or someone who wants a reliable and free push email solution. In either case, I highly recommend their service.
Many email providers, for an example gmail, will let you set up email forwarding so that all your received email gets automatically forwarded to an additional address, for an example your @mail2web.com address. This way you can “piggy back” on Mail2Web’s free service and get free push email of other mail accounts.
If your mail provider doesn’t support email forwarding, Mail2Web LIVE can set up email retrieval of POP3 and IMAP accounts. However, mail will only be retrieved once an hour. So while the email will be pushed directly to your device when it arrives at your Mail2Web account, it might take up to an hour for the message to be retrieved by Mail2Web’s servers.
I was genuinely impressed by Mail2Web LIVE service, support and product. It is fast, robust and free
My only complain is that I thought it was hard to find the settings for Mail For Exchange (ActiveSync settings). But if you log on to your customer control panel and go to “Free Services” and then select “Mail2Web LIVE” you will see the settings needed to set up Mail For Exchange on your Nokia E-Series device.

An even minor complaint was that I kept on forgetting to log on with my FULL @mail2web.com’s email address. I tried just using my registered name without the @mail2web.com part, but that didn’t work. So save yourself some trouble and remember to use your FULL email address when you log on to the services.

There are other companies that offers free push email but this is the first company that I have seen that offer free Microsoft Exchange email with the push functionality turned on.
Mail2Web offers a number of paid services such as email and domain hosting as well. I am so impressed by their free service that I am now considering letting them host my e-series.org mail.
UPDATE:
Needless to say be careful when you synchronize your device the first time. If your device contains information already make sure your “Sync Content” preferences are set to “In case of Conflict”, “Phone Wins” the first time you use the service so you don’t accidently erase any data. In addition, do back up all your data before.

Hi Ed,
Wow!!! Awesome!!! I’ve always wanted to check out what all this fuss about push-mail was. Now I can!!! Thanks for the heads-up.
Hope all is well on your end. I’ve had some problems with my E61 and had to perform a hard reset on it. It works now but every now and then, whenever I try to delete too many e-mails (which are stored on my Kingston 2GB MiniSD card), I get a WSOD (White Screen of Death). Not sure why but I still love the E61. In it’s class, it’s still the best value for money. Only wished it could be a bit faster.
Cheers!

Very cool. Another excellent piece o software!
November 15th, 2006 at 10:48 pm
Wow! I’ve just signed up and setup my E61 with Mail4Exchange. Works perfectly! Thanks for the tip.
November 15th, 2006 at 11:01 pm
Thanks Ed,
Since I bought my E61 I was looking around for this kind of service.
Cheers :):):)

November 15th, 2006 at 11:14 pm
I don’t understand how Mail2Web knows if I update a contact or add a calendar event in Outlook on my computer. Can someone please explaine that for me? Thanks.
November 16th, 2006 at 2:02 am
Good for u, finding it this late. I hope this won’t affect the free service in the long run.
November 16th, 2006 at 2:22 am
I have been using mail2web for 6 months now all over the bloody world. I spent 2 months running around asia, im not working in the middle of nowhere china and their push email is just so cool. i see dirt around me, no telephones but heh my E61 gets email sends it to me
ASAP. mail2web basic is free. I liked them SO much I paid for a years fully activesync
business service. The support is wonderful and they actually make an effort to fix
things if they do go wrong. or something borks out for a few days.
Free or Pain mail2web.com I love…
just had to share me feelings…..
I love my E61 more then my winblows mobile 5 pda….

November 16th, 2006 at 2:44 am
Is this truly “push” technology since it still requires “synch” to the exchange server? Is there a setting to have the email, calendar and contacts pushed instead of scheduled synch every 15 minutes or always online which i beleive is pulling the info from the server as it drains the battery fast.
Thanks!
November 16th, 2006 at 3:37 am
sounds like a great way to consolidate my email accounts to one accounst on the phone, how do you set it to store the emails on the sd card and what happens when you delete an email on the phone?
Cool stuff
Dave
(using the E62 as modem for the laptop in Germany, slow but cool)
November 16th, 2006 at 5:27 am
Awesome!!! This works perfectly!!!!!
November 16th, 2006 at 6:18 am
I use something similar, but one annoying thing about Mail for Exchange is that there appears to be no way to turn of read receipts being sent. So if someone sneds you a mail with Read Receipt Requested and you read it on your device, then the receipt is sent unconditionally.
As I hate Read Receipts I find this a royal pain, so if anyone knows how to turn it off then I would be very glad to hear it!
November 16th, 2006 at 6:48 am
Working great ! But since this is my first experience with push mail : Is it notmal that the internet phone connection stays connected all time during peak hour ?
November 16th, 2006 at 6:53 am
TIP: Make sure you dont forgett to change “In case of Conflict” setting to “Phone Wins” first time… Mine was on “server wins” and completly erased all my contacts and organizer…. just a tip. Have back up - but 2 months old… grrr… else great solution!!
November 16th, 2006 at 6:59 am
Is it possible that when Mail for Exchange is installed and working on the Nokia E61, that the automatic retrieval of other POP3 are disabled ?
November 16th, 2006 at 7:24 am
Works well but ATTENTION.
Do not be as stupid as I was when I was in a hurry and wanted to configurate this before I had to leave.
I did set the calender to syncronize as well as the e-mail (and the priority on the server). The result was that I lost all the calenderposts that I had in my E61 from before, and the last back up was done about five weeks ago…..Another reminder how important the back ups are.
Suddenly I am in no hurry anymore and lots off free days in my calender …I good way to have an unexpected vacation…..
November 16th, 2006 at 7:31 am
I have been using this service and liked it so much I even got a personal exchange account. For $1.99usd/month you cannot beat it and you get to use your own email address for replying from mail2web and your phone. Best money I have ever spent.
Take a look as it might be helpful to you and others.
November 16th, 2006 at 7:49 am
I’ve been using Mail2Web for a couple of months. I forward all my gmail to that account, but when I reply an email it’s replyed with my Mail2Web email address. Anybody know if I can change this setting to send my gmail address as the “sent by” address?
Thanks!
November 16th, 2006 at 7:57 am
WOW great!!! After some threats and bad words, me and my E70 worked it out just nice
Now I have to change from my old mail everywhere though
November 16th, 2006 at 9:04 am
Daniel —- on your phone go to Mail 4 Exchange, options, edit profile, email - change email address to xxx@gmail.com and you’re all set. I have used mail2web for months now and have my company email address in the sent field. Works great.
November 16th, 2006 at 9:10 am
Philip Coombes
You can set the Read Receipt at the options menu on mail2web website…
November 16th, 2006 at 9:21 am
Can someone explaine to me how this works in terms of syncing my calendar and contacts from Outlook to my E61 please? Also is there a way to reply from anyone of my 4 or 5 emails I use daily to send from?
November 16th, 2006 at 9:33 am
to KEVIN : I did what you wrote, but still, when I’m replying to an email for example received from Gmail, forwarded to mail2web and then pushed to my Nokia, when I reply to this it returns to the Gmail sender but with my mail2web adress.
November 16th, 2006 at 9:41 am
Finally got it to work! Very exciting
November 16th, 2006 at 9:45 am
to KEVIN : please see after the answer from the technical support from mail2web :
You can change your from address on the Personal exchange account. Please note that you will not be able to change the address from the device. It must be changed from your control panel (however this is a one time change). If you want to send from multiple addresses, you would need to login to your control panel each time you wish to change the address.
If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our 24/7 support team at support@mail2web.com.
Thank you for using mail2web.com
November 16th, 2006 at 10:00 am

November 16th, 2006 at 10:22 am

November 16th, 2006 at 11:09 am
E-Series has got to be the best site out there for E-users!!! I check the page everyday to see what new things I can do with my E61. HANDS DOWN the BEST phone I have ever owned (I have gone through a bunch of high-end phones).
MAIL2WEB is awesome. Great find…Keep up the great work!!!
November 16th, 2006 at 11:11 am
ice: thanks, did it
November 16th, 2006 at 11:16 am
Very nice - I’d definitely be using this if I didn’t already have my own exchange hosting.
For anyone out there looking to do this with a real domain name, definitely check out exchangemymail.com.
November 16th, 2006 at 11:21 am
Yep, I’ve used Mail2Web for the last 6 months and been using Mail4Exchange with it from day one with my e61.
Exchange is a winner full stop, in my opinion. But FREE … everyone in the country should use it!

Is it possible to connect outlook to this service? I can’t it work work.
November 16th, 2006 at 1:11 pm
Kevin, I did that but it’s not working. Looking at mail2web web site I think this is not possible on the free service. Anybody was sucessful doing this? Thanks!
November 16th, 2006 at 2:18 pm
I have the following 2 problems too :
I cannot send anymore an email from another POP 3 account on my Nokia E61 device, device hangs up
And while in a regular phone call , after a few minutes call hangs up automatically.
Are you aware of any of those problems ?
November 16th, 2006 at 3:21 pm
I am very interseted in this new thing… but my gmail app is just working so great.. and why fix it if it aint broke (-:.. hmm why not.. lets give it a try.
thxks for the tips..
November 16th, 2006 at 11:01 pm
It looks to be a great service. But i cn access my company pop3 on my E61 with auto retrieval set. I can access my gmail with the s60 gmail client.
E61 is amazing!!!
November 17th, 2006 at 2:04 am
works great. but you do have to stay connected if you want the push functionality to work. for wifi it’s quite a battery drainer so keep it plugged in.
if using gprs or umts i’m sure the battery drain won’t be as great. in terms of just email, its quite similar to pop3 access accept that once the mail is in it is pushed to your set, where as for pop3 u need to check regularly. but for pushmail u still need a data connection alive for it to push mail to you.
of course the great advantage here is a online backup of your calender and contacts.
someone please correct me if i’m wrong.
November 17th, 2006 at 2:31 am
In order for this to be considered ‘push email’, doesnt your phone have to have constant network connectivity?
Too bad Data costs are still pretty high, here in western Canada.
November 17th, 2006 at 5:33 am
Thank you for the great tip. I set it up and had it working in no time!
November 17th, 2006 at 8:16 am
Hey, thanks! I set up the account at mail2web and the push mail working perfectly in my e61 here in Taiwan.
Few questions:
1. From the e61 screen, it seems the 3G data is connected at all time. My question is: Is MS Exchange Push Mail a real push mail or just connected to server always? (Which will cost more!)
2. Does this consumes more power / battery?
Any body can answer this?
November 17th, 2006 at 10:22 am
The built-in Messages app can get push mail with any IMAP mailbox…
November 17th, 2006 at 10:24 am
Great site! Only problem I have is when I recieve an email from mail2web to my E61 the body of appears as a .eml attachment which the E61 wont open. Is there any way to get round this?
November 17th, 2006 at 11:05 am
Has anyone gotten the “from address” to change to something other than the xxx@mail2web.com address. I have updated the email address information in the “CUSTOMER CONTROL PANEL” AND on my device. When i send emails from by device it still shows as coming from xxx@mail2web.com address. Does one need a paid service for this feature to work?
November 17th, 2006 at 12:48 pm
Response from mail2web support, paid service is needed for this setup. –
You cannot change your from address using mail2web LIVE. Using mail2web Personal Exchange you can do this through our SMTP Proxy service which allows you to send mail from your mail2web account and have it appear as if it is coming from a different e-mail address that you own.
November 17th, 2006 at 4:32 pm
Is mail2web the free version of http://www.4smartphone.net ?
(or the same when paying the 1,99$ Personal Exchange Plan.
November 17th, 2006 at 5:08 pm
Consider just receiving your email from them and if it must come from a work email like me or gmail then respond from the built in email program on your respective phones.
November 17th, 2006 at 6:41 pm
This is great! But is anyone having problems with the new mail notification? When a new mail arrives, all i get is the flashing light. No sound. No nothing. The tone has been set in the profile with no difference.
On a different note, can’t seem to remove BB connect from my E61! It shows “unable to delete file”! Anyone facing the same problem?
November 17th, 2006 at 9:16 pm
Have you done this on the E62. I can get mail but can not send or get my contacts and calendar to sync. Followed all the directions and have unlimited data plan also. very strange anomoly. I am trying to proof of concept this for my company to move away from crackberrys any suggestions.
PS I also get the “System Error. Please try again later” error.
November 17th, 2006 at 10:51 pm
I am having issues with my E61 with Mail for Exchange sending e-mails that are time-stamped 5 hours ahead of the actual time I sent the message. The 5 hours correspond to my GMT offset of -5 hours. I have checked the E61 time settings and it is set for -5 Hours GMT and the Mail2Web GUI also says it is set for -5 Hours GMT.
When I send e-mails from the E61s native e-mail S60 client, I don’t have this trouble. Does anybody else find this is happening to them? Thanks.
November 18th, 2006 at 5:07 am
Someone knows if Mail4Exchange works correctly on N-series device?
I actually have an E61 but would like to buy N95 as soon as it’s out….
Thank you!
Roberto
November 18th, 2006 at 11:33 am
Wwell i proved it was just contacts and calendar. I set the syn to just e-mail and it works gloriously. I wonder if is because the calendar appointments and contacts I have on the phone come from a sync I did with Nokia PC Suite and my outlook from a different exchange. Some kind of stamp of ownership from one exchange to the other that is not readily visible. Any one have a guess?
November 18th, 2006 at 1:49 pm
Wow, this looks pretty exciting, I’ll be sure to try it when I get home from work.
One question though: Anyone know what the data usage is like if Mail for Exchange is on ‘always on’? Also, can you set Mail for Exchange to only download up to x kb per connection? And (last one, really), can Mail for Exchange use any connection, including Wi Fi, and access point groups that I’ve set up?
November 18th, 2006 at 2:39 pm
Reply to Better:
I believe that it uses a ‘hartbeat’ signal at intervals (very low data transfer), but does have to stay connected.
As far as I understand, this is how EVERY mobile push email works (inc BlackBurry). Someone please correct me if I’m mistaken.
So, in answer to your second Q … this will use a bit more power and consume some of the battery over time.
I believe, however, continuous connection (for push mail) is more efficient than configuring your phone to sync every minute say, as this would check through every data type for a change, every time it syncs.
Hope that helps … and makes sense!

sorry i fogot to say that i dont want the email to be deleted on the pc but i only want to delet it on the phone please assist me on how to switch this option if it is available. can you also please post few games such as tennis, pool.
November 18th, 2006 at 8:55 pm
Hi Colin,
Thanks for the explanation. I checked the total data used on the phone and it uses little data transfer just like you said. However, it uses a lot of battery which makes my phone from 3 ~ 4 days to 1.5 days only!!!
Why?? I don’t have a blackberry but I do know that blackberry can use up to 3 ~ 5 days while keep connected? Any difference?
BTW, i think the best is to beg Google to have PUSHED GMAIL out ASAP.
November 19th, 2006 at 1:53 am
Brian:
You can use any connection available on your device to check emails. So if you are at a net cafe, use the wifi, if you are roaming around, use your data service. As to your question on limiting transfer rate, I don’t think this is possible; and finally — for data usage if “always on” is selected. This depends of course on the volume of emails you get, the actual heartbeat signal is not that heavy.
Better:
The reason for the drain of the battery has to do with a few factors:
1. Radio being used. Wifi takes more battery than your 3G radio
2. Size/Type of device. If you notice most blackberries are all black & white devices with very low res screens and not many features. This helps greatly in battery life.
3. Size of battery — the more charge your battery can hold, the longer it will power up the device. I’m not sure if a higher capacity battery is available for the E61, but you should consider putting that in if it is.
November 19th, 2006 at 6:01 am
Hey this works fine….
This is awesome
Thanks Ed for discovering it!!!
November 19th, 2006 at 6:57 am
ive been using push email since i got my E61. i charge over night.
it runs 6am - 10pm and i have 1 bar left so around 20% when i get home.
thats 20-30 text messages, 5 minutes of talk or less. with 1 hour
of chat, and push always connected the battery is DEAD by 10pm.
so I guess 16-18 hours with 1-2 hours of internet, email, texts,
and 10-15 minutes of voice a day.
a.
November 19th, 2006 at 7:15 am
hmmm, I started now with push, 2 hours talk a day and 30 min. internet.
Barely ending the day. How are Blackberry people managing with same talk/use time ??
November 19th, 2006 at 9:35 am
it’s easy to use push gmail.
in the settings just choose gmail to forward a copy of you incoming mail to you mail2web address.
thats it
November 19th, 2006 at 12:34 pm
Mail4Exchange is a bandwidth and therefore a power hog. It sends/receives about 3 times as much data per connection than blackberry and way more than the Good mail client. having said that I have mine on a 15 minute (7am-12pm) update interval and I get about 2.5 days per charge. When I used it on always connection I was lucky to get through a single day without the battery going flat.
November 19th, 2006 at 3:16 pm
Hi, anyone willing to share their web2mail e61 configuration settings with me? I’m blowed if I can find them on the web2mail website. Thanks.
November 19th, 2006 at 3:43 pm
Hi Biet
Look for “Active Sync” settings:
Log on to your customer control panel and go to “Free Services” and then select “Mail2Web LIVE” you will see the settings needed to set up Mail For Exchange on your Nokia E-Series device.
Look at the second to last screen shot. Hope that helps
November 19th, 2006 at 11:48 pm
why there is no alert when i recevie my emails
very strange
November 20th, 2006 at 4:04 am
To Kevin, Andrew, Burhan and Colin,
Thanks for all of you.
One more thing, I think the Mail4Exchange client uses more battery power even when you don’t connect or at low update rate such as every 4 hours. I think when it is installed in the e61, it just like a demon program run at background which uses more battery compared to no installation.
November 20th, 2006 at 4:06 am
Wow, forgot to said, I think when you install it, it make the battery at least 0.5 to 1 day shorter than no-installation.
November 20th, 2006 at 10:31 am
To JF and vd1900
In order to have an alert while receiving and email you should allow pop-ups in the Mail4exchange settings (you will get a pop-up similar to when you receive an sms along with the alert you assigned to it in the profile)

thanks JP it works
November 21st, 2006 at 3:42 am
Aziz : try not to use the agregate function, instead of this have your emails forwarded automatically to mail2web (if you can), even mail2web recommend this.
Gmail is therefore perfect for this (and free).
November 21st, 2006 at 4:56 am
Admin, thanks for your assistance. Have got it sorted now, had seen that page before but thought the settings were specific to Windows Mobile devices, doh!. Anyway, after all that I dont think if I am gonna use mail2web away from my home router. Used it away from router for 12 hours with GPRS connection and it costs a fortune ‘always on’. Will have to modify my settings to maybe auto checking once every 4 or 6 hours. Also, when using away from router but with router selected as default access point, was unable to send SMS or even phone out. Would have thought SMS would have overridden router as access point and sent GPRS. Ah! wel, we live and learn!!l
November 21st, 2006 at 9:04 am
I noticed that the battery life is a lot of function of the quality of the 3G network you are on. When 3G signal is always at maximum, concumption is much more less that with a weaker signal.

I am currently using mail2web’s mail for exchange service and although it works wwll, I’m a little disappointed with the battery drain. I just noticed that mail2web offers a Blackberry service for $9.99 month and my previous experience with BB connect on my e61 was great and I had no battery drain issues. I tried signing up for the service but can’t get it working on my e61. When I try to run the Blackberry connect desktop software to activate the account, I can’t since I guess I don’t have a local exchange server and there is no way to activate it directly on my e61. Anyone been able to to use mail2web and Blackberry connect on their e61?
thanks,
-Jeff
November 22nd, 2006 at 1:50 am
As Mail for Exchange is a real battery drainer and it looses the connection every few minutes which results in reconnects and about 0,5MB/h I just syncronize every 4h my calendar and contacts.
My eMails are pushed through an IMAP server with IDLE command enabled, wich works well for me when using packet data instead of WiFi.
Now I’d like to syncronize my Evolution (Novell) client on Linux with mail2web but I don’t get it working
Usind “Exchange Server” as server-type, “domain\user@mail2web.com” as username and “https://mobile.exchange.mail2web.com” as OWA adress doesn’t work. Anybody got an working Evolution synchronization?

Excellent!
The push functionality works superbly……finally I have an instant email solution. I can’t seem to send mail though. It appears in the sent folder in the web client, but never makes it to the recipient.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Very nice free offer. Works very well but I’m not really a Microsoft dude and don’t like to see my battery being drained so fast.
Would be great to have a similar free (or low cost) solution based on Blackberry. Anyone aware of such ?
Cheers

Hi. I have Goodlink running on my e61 which works great for email, conacts, calender etc. Would I also be able to run Mail 4 Exchange at the same time with web2mail. This would allow me to run to live push email systems with two different domains. Anyone tried this. Thanks.
November 27th, 2006 at 11:56 pm
Shak,
Good question. I’ve been wondering about the same thing. Has anyone out there tried running two push email solutions on an E61?
Thx /// mobile
November 28th, 2006 at 2:23 am
Hi Shak and Mobile!
I am running Mobile4Exchange and also having Gmail to get my private new mails every 30 minutes. That works perfect but of course it is not the same as having two push mail clients running.
I used to have SevenAlways on but unfortunally my trial version had expired so could not set up my “test bench” today.
I think it would not be a problem but will be interesting to se what experience other users have of this.

I just tried the sync thing on my E61 and am also getting the invalid hostname error message. I checked (and double-checked) the server name I entered and it is correct.
Anybody have any ideas what else could be going wrong?

Shak, Hocki,
I’ll be testing this myself over the coming week or so. I’m installing Good as the corporate solution at work and I already have M2W over M4E on my phone.
Will report any findings as soon as I know.

Excellent. I bought my E61 several days ago, and am still researching. This is one excellent job. Thx

OK, for all you email addicts out there …
I just installed Good Mobile Messaging server at work this week, and a few weeks ago I installed Mail for Exchange using Mail2Web for my personal email. Initial testing of Good AND Mail for Exchange on the same E61 is indicating that it’s working just fine. Good is relying on its own application, similar to Gmail, which means it’s really not tapping into the phone’s built-in” default email inbox, calendar, contacts, etc. What that in turn means, as I interpret it, is that one could really have two sets of calendars, contact lists, and so on, if you want your corporate email, contacts, calendar to be separate from your personal stuff. Still you can have it ALL on your phone without mixing and matching it. It should be said that the only thing I’ve tested so far is push email from either account, so I don’t *know* how contacts, calendar, etc. will work.
This is obviously in the *early* testing stages at this point, so if you test this on your own phone, or even “worse,” on a phone supplied to you by your company, be aware, it’s at your own risk. There may be problems that I have not discovered yet. Still, it’s pretty cool that it seems to work … so far.

I’m getting the “invalid host name” error as well.
Any solutions yet?

[...] (Incidentally, if you’re one of the happy breed using Gmail and a Nokia E Series smartphone, an excellent hack is to sign up for a free hosted Exchange account with mail2web. Gmail (and indeed other accounts) can be configured to forward a copy of all messages to the mail2web account, which is then synchronised with the E61 via the excellent Mail for Exchange application for Nokia devices. The real plus is that mail2web has support for push email turned on as standard - so the one retains the original message in Gmail as a backup, has a working copy in their mail2web inbox and gets a free push email solution into the bargain. Thanks to e-series.org for introducing me to mail2web.) [...]

Hey, just wondering if any of you are using the PUSH system and are client of T-mobile in the US.
When I am home, the Push system works perfectly, using my house wi-fi network. When I am out and set the access point settings to T-Zones (which I sometimes use to browse when no wifi is available), the phone can’t seem to establish a connection.
Please let me know if there is a way around this issue.

Problem: “Error: Login Failure Encrypted Data Missing”
I have tried to use mail2web.com site (www.mail2web.com/pda) which allows one to read and write POP email with out a configuration or set up.
This web site works great from any PC based browser. But, I can not get it to work fully with my E-62 via Cingular’s internet MediaNet access to the Internet.
The E-62 can read my POP mail with out problem from the http://www.mail2web.com/pda web site, but I can not send email from the E-62 using the http://www.mail2web.com/pda web site.
I get the following Error message on the E-62 when I try to send or Forward email:
“Error: Login Failure Encrypted Data Missing”
What can be done to fix this problem… TIA Ron

hats off to you! Push mail at last worked on my basic gprs service. after trying everything from enmoz to alwayssend, mail2web is the real push mail solution, absolutely FREE, that too on BASIC GPRS provided by hutch in Mumbai. I keep it on all the time and pay peanuts for it. The mail arrives the way it actually should, with a little light on my E61 blinks as an alert. lovely! Just the way i ever wished. I am one happy user of nokia e61 and it rocks!!!. I’ll soon write a blog on my experiences with Nokia E61.
thanks all
Keep up the good work e-series.org!!
with best regards,
Suhas Aher.

July 5th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
So do you need to signup for the paid mail2web service to change the reply address?
July 5th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
Zaraiman,
Yes, you have to sign up for the paid service in order to change your reply to address. It’s cheap and well worth it!

for replying using my gmail server, i did the following;
I set up my gmail with in build email client (mannual retrieve selected) and set the mail retrieve up to 5 mails with header only.
When i received my email by mail2web and i have to reply the mail, i just launch my in build email client and retrieve only the 5 mails header (choose 5 mails because less time on connect to gmail) download to my phone and reply using that gmail account. No need to subscribe , save money.
Wish may help .

Does mail2web works with Nokia E61i or Nokia 6110 navigator?
During first sync can we specify email start date to be specified so that not all my emails as synced with mobile phone, reason being my email folder at work is quite huge (more that 2GB).
August 9th, 2007 at 9:27 am
Shaun,
mail2web and Mail For Exchange on the Nokia E61 works great together. I used the E61 to write the above post. You can set MFE so that it only fetches the last 7 days of mail or less, so you don’t have to worry about retrieving all the email in your account.
Cheers

Can anyone help me? Lately I have noticed that MFE encounters problem syncronising, sometimes I received this message “UNTRUSTED CERTIFICATE RECEIVED, CONTACT YOUR ADMINISTRATOR”. So whenever I change the SECURE CONNECTION setting to NO on the connection tab of MFE, then synchronisation will be successful. Could anybody give me a lead on this problem and the solution to it.
September 24th, 2007 at 11:42 pm
Yes I encounterd similar Untrusted Certificate error in my E61i for mail2web exchange services. I turned off ‘Secure Connection’ in Mail For Exchange properties and it worked.
When I checked list of pre installed certificates between E61 and E61i (Settings -> Security -> Certificates), there are around 5/7 certificates from Verisign and few other that are not present in E61i. Probably its because of this we are facing problem.
I checked mail2web’s FAQ and found that they are using certificate issued by comodogroup.com. I tried one that was already installed in my IE7, exported in .cer format, moved into E61i and installed in it. It didn’t help though.

What do you do with companies that do not allow you to forward emails? I can only access it on outlook web access.
January 25th, 2008 at 3:24 am
Hi,
This setup works great! I have one question though… When I reply from my E51, the email goes out from my mail2web id. Is there any way I can have the from email address changed to my work email, so that it appears to come from my work email and not mail2web?
Thanks!
February 1st, 2008 at 7:36 am
Is it secure enough to register my business email there?? Also, does it then require GPRS or WiFi connection to download emails?
February 1st, 2008 at 2:27 pm
Brilliant - thanks for this.
Was using mobile mail on 3 in the UK and the service wasn’t great.
This worked first time and is much better, thanks again.
February 1st, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Hmm, I use to host my private email. It’s a reputable company and I trust them. GPRS or WiFi connection depends on the device/solution and not Mail2Web. Mail2Web supports both. Sign up and try it out, the basic level is free.

I don’t get what all the fuss is about. Gmail now have IMAP in place, so setting up Gmail on E Series is even easier than before and its a simple step. You tell the phone when to connect and check for email, and it does and if there is anything to download etc, then it does that. So whats the need for all this push service?
I’m not criticising anybody here, but just a little confused that’s all.
March 8th, 2008 at 4:44 am
Im a noob and Im a little confused about the Push service of Mail2web.
My first synch was successful, and I did that manually. When I set my phone to Auti Synch, however, it appears that it synchs only every 15 minutes by establishing a connection every 15 minutes. Isnt that just Pull mail, not Push? I was thinking I should be connected all the time and any email received should automatically be synched on my phone. Ive got an unlimited data plan with my network so it shouldnt be a problem. How should I make the phone “always online”?
Im using an E51. Many thanks!

i have used my company mail thru IMAP on my E50. but i cannot access it from my E61i!? can anyone tell me if a HARD RESET will fix it or not! or if i upgrade to the new firmware, will it be any better? ma friend suggested me a hard reset. my boss uses his account on his e90 without any hassle and anywhere - while roaming too! since i was the one who get him to buy the e90 for the use of email only, i find it hard to accept that i myself cant use it when its necessary. help pls!
April 19th, 2008 at 5:43 am
Mail 2 web works fine with MFE option on my NOKIA E90 Communicator. But it does drain your battery. So depends basically on your choice people.
April 24th, 2008 at 12:45 am
I don’t see the reason for it to work on E50 and not on the E61i, by any chance you have the settings wrong? The SSL, ports, or maybe proxy settings?
April 26th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Hi ppl, Thanks for the info regarding M4E. I’m going to use GMX.com for my mail for exchange purpose since they are providing 5GB of space for mails. Besides, if all goes well, i’ll keep this mail permemantly for my primary mails.. So wish me luck.

Hi ppl and admin, Thanks for the blog on email, plus on the M4E software.. I just installed M4E on N95-1 for the past 2 weeks and was searching for a decent M4E Email server. Thanks to your M4E blog and this blog as well, all is working fine. Finally, the perfect M4E program and and M4E server (Mail2Web). All thanks to you ppl out here..

Using Airtel Live! Profile..,checking emails every 1 hr..
April 27th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
Hi ppl..
To D.C -There’s a lot of difference between imap/pop3 or mail for exchange transmissions. You can access emails on imap or pop provided you have full access tcp/ip gprs profile activated. on the other hand, mail for exchange is being working on my mobile without the full tcp/ip access profile. So that very much explains everything. Not everyone has or wishes to use flat rate grps plan all the time, so some may prefer to check emails every 6-12hrs once or once a day. Peace out..
P.S Thanks for the mail2web blog ed.. was very useful.
