Nokia World

What a cruel twist of fate. I have an upcoming business trip to Amsterdam. My visit to Amsterdam coincides with an event there called Nokia World. The agenda looks *very* interesting. There are three simultaneous tracks and an expo during breaks and lunches.

There are speakers from Nokia such as CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, CTO Tero Ojanperä and guest speakers from Yahoo, TIM, T-Mobile, Orange, Cisco and 70 exhibitors. Among the topics that will be covered are Location Based Services, Enterprise Voice, Connected Music Experience and Web 2.0 & Mobile.

Although there is no direct mentioning of any new announcements, the description of the event goes as follows
“Nokia World, formerly called Nokia Mobility Conference, is your chance to explore new products, services and ideas in the mobility field, achieve business goals and find new perspectives, live exciting new experiences and connect to Nokia and other major players in the mobile industry.”

That’s three times the word “new” is used in one sentence, albeit a very long sentence ;-)

So why is this a cruel twist of fate? Well, I’m not going. I would very, very much like to but I’m not. It is hard to justify the cost of several hundred Euros out of my own pocket.

In addition, by now the event looks sold out. But I’ll be keeping my eyes open when I’m in Amsterdam. Who knows, perhaps I’ll run into Olli-Pekka at the airport. But I will also keeping an eye on my favourite, professional bloggers as I am sure they will be at the event and hopefully posting a lot.

    Hi Stefan
I took the photo before I bought the case.

Do me a favor and ask a personal favor of the Nokia CEO, ask him on my behalf to make an E61 with a camera. Tell him Jeb asked and I’m sure he will do it for me.

  12. admin Says:

Sure thing Jeb, will do. Anything else I should tell him?

I support the “get a press card” idea.

Do it the right way. Find a place in Amsterdam where they will print t-shirts with your own logo. Get a t-shirt (or a sweatshirt) made with “www.e-series.org” printed on it with big bold letters. The second line should read: “Home of the world’s biggest Nokia E-Series blog”, or something similar. Also print business cards and professional looking flyers with exerpts from your blog.

Then go to the conference venue and insist on getting a press card. Try to “bribe” them with an extra t-shirt. If you do manage to get it, your business cards and flyers will come in handy, especially if you get to meet a Nokia executive. (Of course, extra t-shirts are handy).

    Good luck!

    i agree with machani’s idea.
that’s a good try to find your way into the expo.
we will learn a lot from the expo through you if you ever get the chance to attend it.

    Hi Ed,

Good move to ask this openly - you sure deserve a ticket, as you have done some absolutely excellent job with this blog.

I’m not going to be in Amsterdam / Nokia World myself, but have fun there! (and do print that t-shirt with e-series.org with big bold letters)
