Silicone Case For The Nokia E61

A good alternative to leather and plastic hard cases for the Nokia E61 are the protective silicone skins available from various vendors on eBay.

Some vendors include a screen protector with the case. The silicone skin fits the phone but leaves the keypad, screen and audio/ac port open. The price for these silicone skins are about $5-10, depending on the vendor.

Thanks for the great photos Vinx!

The Silicon Skins look cool. Except that in India, where women wear large earrings, when they do use your phone (especially if the woman is your wife), you will have screen damage and you can do nothing about it !!

So for me, a clear hard case is a better option .. at least my screen stays pristine …

    My two bits.

  2. Kenneth Says:

That’s why we have screen protectors…..

  3. Mark Charles C. Tesch Says:

Looks like a tight fit. must it be removed if you put your phone on the cradle tho? I mean, for those who do use the cradle a lot, I mean.

do u think silicon case get dust easily?

once i used a silicon with my previous moto phone, after a few hours, it looks like it has been left in open space for a week…….

  5. matsie Says:

Any recommendation re providers that deliver silicone case including screen protector?

  6. anthonyb Says:

This seems the best solution of all. I stopped using my clear case because the screen got all scratched up. Plus I feel the E61 is large already and the clear cases made it feel larger.

I’m going to try this silicon stuff.

  7. sam gonzales Says:

i had the same issue anthonyb .. even though it didnt look like it added alot it felt bigger with a clear plastic case.. weird.. let me know if its differnet with the silicone one.. thanks!

I’m still trying to find the “right” case for my E61. The first one I had was cradle/holster model that fit sideways on my belt. It was irritating because I had to constantly lock the phone.

My second (and current) one was a cellet faux leather model similar the one silicon above that detaches from the belt clip. My only complaint about it is the plastic cover over the keys makes it hard to use.

I just purchased a silicon sleeve with a neck strap. Hopefully this will be the magic case.

    Hello there folks!…
I just got my brand new E62 (e61 ain’t available here in Venezuela).. i have read some local blogs thats assures than those crystal and Silicone cases keeps Hi levels of humidity in the phone and turns the humidity sensor (that white strip behind the battery) pinkish/redish. loosing instantly your warranty. its this true?
Also, i wanna thx you for keeping this amazing site, i have learned a lot also pimped my device with your themes =o)

  10. Vinx Says:

Hey there everybody! I’ve just read some of your comments and as owner of the phone with that black silicon case I can assure you it keeps the phone pretty comfortable and easy to handle. I had a plastic transparent case that made the phone really big and uncomfortable in my hands though it heavily protected the screen.

What I can say is with this case and the screen protector everything works pretty fine: no humidity problems, or anything unsafe. The only thing is maybe that the belt around the joystick is a little bit less thight than the rest of the case which actuallt fits the phone 100%. This may cause you to feel the joystick a little bit harder but nothing strange as the plastic case was to me. I use the phone 24h a day, 7 days a week because of my job and I can assure you running through Europe my phone never looked so good looking and working. Bye to everybody.

ps: written with my e-61 =D

I ordered mine yesterday from Amazon! US$30 with International Delivery included….now I have to wait between 10 and 20 days… :-/

  12. Vinx Says:

Wow that’s totally crazy! I got mine for about 10€ with the interncntinental shipping on eBay! Super crazy!

  13. M. Sathya Prasad Says:

Anyone knows if the case is available in India?

  14. Jeebs Says:

@Vinx: do you have a cradle from Brando.com, does it fit in here with the Silicon Case?

  15. Vinx Says:

Brando.com? What do you mean with cradle?

  16. Richard Says:

It looks like the silicone case may cut down on unintentional pusing of the “record” button. One of the issues I disdain most about the E6x model.

    Can anyone confirm this?

  17. Jay Says:

Had this kind of case for my E61 a week after I got it, its the best case for the E61 IMO. dust build up depends on the material used in the case, the softer it is, the more dust it accumulates.

I have the white case, looks pretty darn good on the E61 :)

  18. Ryan Says:

Just got mine today for $5.00 USD. And…

Well, it’s not perfect. Darn it. This is the third case I’ve owned. I love the feel of it, but I really wanted a screen cover. I like the fact that the keyboard is not protected as it makes it easier to type, but without the screen cover it’s not really protecting anything.

  19. Silikon-Cover für das E60/E16 at Symbian60.mobi Says:

Hi guys/gals! I’ve been using this silicone casing for about a month now. I did not like the centre piece that is covering the joy stick, so I cut the centre piece away. Now it looks more pretty. Without the centre piece the joystic movement can move freely without being too constricted. Once I drop my phone accidently on the hard tarmac. Guess what? My phone survive without a scratch because it falls flat from the back. With the casing on the phone does not feel too thick and the rubbery surface provided a good grip for the phone. I would recommend this to anyone who has this wonderfull phone.

  21. rklear Says:

Does the phone fit into a holster when it is inside the silicone skin? It doesn’t look to me like it has a belt clip. Also, with the silicone skin on is it difficult to use the joystick and/or the left and right selection keys? One more question - Since the skin leaves the screen exposed, does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to protect the screen?

  22. Shiraj Says:

hey i really need a silicon cover to my e61

  23. level3ninja Says:

Everyone worried about the screen not being covered should get a screen protector. It’s a bit of plastic that is thick enough to actually protect the screen properly. The main problem I had with it was the bubbles under it when I put it on, which I tried to get off and left fingerprints on the sticky underside which were then permanently visible, so I through the AU$2 thing away. I might get another one sometime, but I never have any issues with the screens on my phones.

  24. Grey Says:

Has anyone ever found a skin protector for the e61?

I’ve seen some clear, very very thin, transparent plastic skins that have a little adhesive that can be placed on mp3 players. Is there such a thing for mobile phones like the e61?

Even with the skin on, the device just appears shiny, but you can still see the entire device.

  25. Turbofrank Says:

I already got a silicon case for my video ipod. While I listen to my fav. podcast, my player falled down for the desk *ohh shyt*. But the case imbibed the crash perfectly. At the moment of the impact, the music even doesn`t stopped. I happy and suprised.

If I gonna a buy a case for my e61 or any other sensitve device, it will be a silicon. Yes, it`s a question of taste, but your device will be handy as before.

I got myself a total protection case from Krusell. It is pretty good and has a lifetime warranty. Though online shopping is not offered at http://www.krusell.se but it can lead you to the neartest dealership.

    Hi people!!!!

I bought nokia e61i a week back i would like to buy clear case for it…

Any idea from whrere i can buy it in INDIA??

Adding link would be great help.

    Thanx

  28. Pablo Says:

Hi there! I got the Silicone Case and love the feeling, but hate the fact that typing and using the joystick has set me back 3 months… it’s as if I had a new phone and had to learn all over again.

The fact that I got the dark silicone case makes it had to read the keypad. Does anyone know if there is a way to eliminate the light sensor, so keypad is always on when keys are pushed?

BTW, i bought my through ebay to Argentina, and came from Hong Kong, so yes, you can buy it in India, China, Brunei, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, etc… it’s U$S 4.99 for the case and $4.01 for the International Standard Shipping, and it comes with a screen protector (about 5 microns thick) (U$S 9 in all).

  29. ellka Says:

pablo, where did you buy your case? I bought one from clarivue and it does not fit like a glove and makes pressing the joystick and surrounding keys (the only ones that are covered) difficult.
it’s so loose though, that i can just move the skin out of the way to hit the keys. i was hoping for more of a glove like fit, if possible.

  30. ellka Says:

fyi, I wrote to Clarivue and apparently there was a problem with the way the e61i skins were cut and they don’t know when they’re receiving the correctly cut ones, so they are having me send it back for a refund. would have been nice to know before ordering though.
