White Is The New Black - White Nokia E61

Got some masking tape and automotive grade white spray paint sitting around? Then you can do what Ritin did. He used some ordinary automotive grade spray paint to create this little bad boy.

He used *four* layers of white and another *four* layers of clear coat. Great work Ritin and thanks for the pictures~!

Hi do you know if you can use @ the same time a GSM and WCDMA network, I am asking this because I got 3 types of phones 1 is nextel, and the other 2 are GSM and WCDMA and maybe I can carry only 2 phones now, I already have my E61 with GSM but don’t know if I can use 2 lines like a dual mode.

    Thanks
    Jerry

That is impressive! How does one separate the top & bottom covers from the main chassis?

  6. Craig Says:

Looks nice!! Just wondering about the case my nokia E61 has a Metal outer not plastic have you painted the metal case one or got a after market one to test on!

  7. Ritin Says:

    Greg,

Seperating the top and bottom covers requires a screw driver and something to prise the top back part open.

Take the battery cover off and then prise open the top rear part. You’ll see 6 screws. Unscrew them and bingo ! you’ve got yourself a split wide open e61.

Keep the keypad, battery, and centre part away safely, and paint away !

    Regards

  8. Ritin Says:

Greg, you’ll need a torx screw driver by the way…

  9. Ritin Says:

    Craig,

I painted the metal case itself. The plastic covers are not available as yet where I live… Even the original metal ones take about 2 weeks after you order them…

  12. joe santos Says:

  13. Ritin Says:

AnthonyB, the paint is a shiny white.

    Regards

  14. Ritin Says:

AnthonyP, the process for taking apart the E62 is probably the same as the E61… Good luck man…

Where can I buy OEM E62 casing? Anybody know? I’m US-based. I prefer it better than my all silver E61. ‘Cause the E62 has dark grey areas. And is the E62 keypad the same as Vodaphone version keypads? Thanks!

what kind of paint did you use. I have managed to demanufactor my E61 now, but in the paint shop he said that the paint probably would fall off. Is it steel or alu. the e61 are made of? partly plactic? would be glad for response.

    Hello,

how do you manage it to mask the on/off-button, the LED, the nokia-logo, and the ear-speaker at the front cover?

I did it with duct tape and painted the cover. During removing the tape I destroyed the paint arount it and it looks ugly.

    Any advices?
    Greetings.

  19. John Says:

Use masking tape. Or, you could go all out and get that blue painters tape. Doesn’t leave behind any residue like duct tape.

Could you use automotive touch-up paints?
Did you spray it or painted it on with a brush?
How long do you have to wait between layers of paint?

  21. Greg Says:

Just wondering if anyone has tried this with an E-62.
