Mobile VPN on The Eseries
“Mobile VPN on the Eseries” or “Everything you ever wanted to know about VPN on the Nokia E61″

I have to confess that (mobile) VPN isn’t remotely my area of expertise. However, I’ve gotten a few questions about VPN and thought I should share a great “How To” about VPN on the Nokia E61.
Ralf was kind to send the link to a great bundle of information about how to build a VPN policy file for the Nokia E61 and to get this working with a CISCO VPN Concentrator, a CISCO PIX and maybe a CISCO Router with Security IOS.
The zip package is available for for download from Rapidshare. If you don’t know how to use Rapidshare read this brief tutorial.
Thanks Ralf!

if thats the next on the E-series devices, I am switching to N-Series.

That phone looks really terrible. In fact, its colours are not consistent with the E-series phones, so i think its fake.

Whats the use of VPN?
Lets say I wanna create it. What can I do with it?
January 10th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Hi again. Don’t seem to have had a response. Is there no other website I could get this from? The countdown clock and code are totally unreadable with screen reading software and I would really like to download this. Where did it come from originally? Could we not have a link to that please? Or please E-mail me on fi@fidunn.plus.com. I think Rapidshare is the most inaccessible site I’ve visited in a long time, and that’s saying something! Thanks very much.

Hi,
i wrote this how to.
If you dont know what VPN is, you wont need it.
It is a software to use a encrypted tunnel to your companies network.
I synchronize my Emails to our Exchange via VPN encrypted tunnel from public hotspots. I also can use VoiP SCCP Client to connect secure to our companies CISCO Callmanager.

First I’d like to extend my congratulations for the excellent blog!
Second I’d love to have this functionality, followed the how-to, but am unsuccessful. The generated SIS installed with no problems as did Mail for Exchange.
I am unable to access my Exchange mailbox without using VPN (company policy). I’m pretty sure I have all the details for the Exchange set up correct, but the VPN, well that’s where my problem lies.
When trying to connect using the VPN policy I see this in my log: “Error: Received no response from VPN gateway IP.here”. I set up Cisco VPN clients for our users and always use that IP. So it has to be something else.
Ralf or anyone else, would you please be so kind to contact me directly (cypherbit at gmail) so I’ll finally be able to use this great feature.
Thank you in advance.

Anyone with information on checkpoint vpn with e61?
January 16th, 2007 at 5:11 am
Nokia mobile VPN can terminate on 3 gateways:
1.) CISCO (PIX, VPN Concentrator, maybe SEC Router)
2.) Nokia iVPN Gateways
3.) Checkpoint
Give me your email addy, and i will send you docu:
“How to configure Nokia Mobile VPN Client with Challenge-Response authentication (case Check Point)”
(i have no docu for using PSK, there you should check the CISCO docu, maybe it is similar.
Write email to silversurfer_1st@hotmail.com

Hi,
I am a technicle amateur with a e90 communicator. I allready got the nokia vpn client installed but I don`t know how to geht it worked.
I have to make a tunnel via WLAN to the univeristy to use the internet on the campus.
Normaly I have to download a Cisco VPN-Client on my Computer and everythin is allready installed there.
How do I have to do that with the VPN-Client on the e90? (I allready testet some thinks to create a SIS-File but that didn`t work).
Can anybody send me a SIS-File ore give some other help?
Thanks allot!

Hello,
there is new VPN Client available for S60 3.1 devices.
Separate Policy tool to create VPN policies and no need
to create SIS file from policy anymore, but policy can be
installed directly over USB or bluetooth.
