Mike Rowehl tagged me. Always, trying to be a good netizen, here we go with my response to Five Things About Me you might know.
- My first “smartphone” was a Kyocera QCP 6035, a surprisingly well engineered, feature packed device that was tragically un-hip. I then switched to the Samsung SPH-i300 followed by the Treo 180, back to Samsung again with the Samsung SPH-330 and then back to the Treo for a number of years going from one to the next; Treo 300, Treo 600 and finally Treo 650. My first Nokia device was the Nokia 9300.
- I started my blog, e-series.org, when I first got my Nokia E61. I was frustrated that I couldn’t find more information about Nokia’s Eseries and Series 60 3rd edition software. I never in my wildest dreams thought anyone in the world would want to read what I wrote. I still remember breaking the 24 barrier! (24 unique visitors per day! ) Today there are more than 6,000 visitors per day to this blog. - Thank you!

- My wife, family and friends all think I spend far too much time on gadgets and e-series.org - I don’t
Through this blog I have made friends all over the world. It amazes me how gadgets can bring people together and bring out the best in people. The main idea with the blog is to help other Eseries users and to share information. Thanks to everyone contributing through the comment sections, contacting me and all you readers.
- As a result of spending a number of years in Asia I like Asian food and cinema, speak Japanese religiously follow each Sumo Basho (tournament). I even met Akebono’s mother and brother but sadly not Akebono himself.

- I am addicted to *really* good coffee and spend a lot of time lurking here. I’m also an avid amateur photographer, a *big fan* of Flickr (as many of you already know) and try to make the most out of my Canon Powershot SD300. My other hobbies and interests are films, music and Apple
ComputersInc.
I now pass the baton over and tag the following (I’m not sure if you’ve been tagged or not):

Speaking of Apple Inc. What do you think of their new knockoff the Apple iPhone? I know it is a unique device, combining voice, video, internet, music, (was I being sarcastic).
All kidding aside Ed, I’m glad your site is so successful, it has helped me alot, and allowed me to help others with their E-Series phones.
Thanks for sharing and congratulations for what you have done with e-series.org. It has made my E61 that much more enjoyable.
Though, something tells me that the Apple iPhone will be the next phone you’re gonna purchase.
Hi Jim & Chris,
I deliberately avoided writing anything about the iPhone beacuse of the hype overload. But now since you asked
As much as I am a hard core, long time, die hard Apple user I’m not sure I’m going to get this device. The reasons are quite simple:
1. I use my device primarily for messaging (phone function is secondary) so I think I need a “real” qwerty keyboard. I don’t think a touch screen keyboard will be as fast and easy to use as using a “thumb
board”
2. I need access to my corporate exchange email. Push Yahoo mail just won’t do. I need my device to support push exchange email.
3. I really wonder what the battery life will be like. Without a removable battery (and that beautiful, bright screen) I doubt that it will last as long as I would expect it to.
Having said all that, part of me is still drooling after this device though. My birthday is in June which happens to coincide with commercial availability….
I have been following your blog religiously ever since I got my E61. I pop by twice a day at times! Great stuff dude. And yes I’ll have to agree that gadgets do bring people together. Great job buddy!
hey ED!
first of all, this blog really is the best for the s60 v3 phones! Pop by quite frequently and very often find it super useful!
I have to say that I really like the mix of “business purpose” and “private fun” aspect you have of this blog! Excellent!!!!
Thanks and keep up the good work! Much appreciated!
First of all, thanks for tagging me. I don’t think I am a “Mobile Guru Supreme” yet…
Anyway… there is still one open question from me. What is your real name? Even until you published “Five Things”, I still don’t know the real identify of e-series.org’s owner. Trying to search on “whois” database returns nothing either.
I must say, without this blog my E61 would not have been nearly as much fun and as useful. I read the blog twice a day sometimes too, reading it on my E61 now in fact. Perhaps a little obssesive?
Loving it well done!
Everyone is a big help, so well do to the others too!
I sleep with my E61 so cudderly!!
Craig
Dude great site!!! My hand goes out to you for all of your efforts.
I’ve been visiting this site religiously everyday since stubling upon it and been using it as a fountain of info as well as trying to help others w phone issues. V3 software development is still “uncovered territory” and I will continue to visit this site.
I have an N-gage(1st smartphone), N70(bit better then the 1st in many ways), now the E61(i like it the best!)
GREAT JOB, KEEP IT GOING!
*Remember: Family and friends are always first!
thank´s for your work, i´m a e-series addict
!
Hey Everybody,
Could someone post the real procedure to setup a Printer on the E61?
I have my printer Photosmart 2570 plug under an Access Point.
My printer has its own IP
But, just don’t understand how to setup.
Could someone help me on this topic?
Thanks!
Thanks guys. I really appreciate the kind words!!!
X-man: I’ll remember your words of advice. I feel a bit guilty because of all the time I put into the blog…
Craig: LOL!
Antony: You *are* mobile guru supreme. Your excellent application was the first S60 3rd edition software I found and installed. You must have been the first to release a S60 3rd edition software. Just call me Ed(ward).
George: Did you read the post about printing from the Nokia E61? There is a lot of good information in the post (and the comments)
Thank you fo tagging me , you were the inspiration along with e61life who compelled me start writing about this wonderful device
Great site! Congrats & keep up the wonderful work! Yes gadgets do bring people together - I have found this site to be a source of great information on my E61. Thanks again for putting up this wonderful site.

I am looking for FM Transmitter for my Nokia E61; any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Assad
Hi, I’ve been reading your blog for a long time, it’s just so helpful and interesting. I especiallly like your “Friday Theme” and those little tricks on E61, that’s really help to speed up some of the functions like the BlueTooth shortcut key!!
Just like the other e-series.org bloggers, I’m also a e-series addict! Keep up the good work!! Many thanks!!
KC
hey buddy… long time no talk. it just seems like things keep getting bigger and better and more popular for this site everyday, and i commend you for it. I only wish i had your time management skills… well organizational skills of anykind for that matter… :oP .. but what i have to say has clearly been said multiple times on here… i just wanted to again thank you for the endless support and dedication… for anyone that hasnt chatted with this gentlemen he’s quite diligent and even responded to some of my emails at 2 or 3 in the morning… guess us tech junkies all have lots of vices in common. As for the iphone…. CANT AGREE WITH YOU MORE…. battery being my largest concern. TELL ME you’re not going to flash that OS every chance you get to someone, let alone dick around on it just for fun…. playing videos, and mp3s …. apple is NOTORIOUS for poor batteries in their “non-removable battery devices” …. at least in my experience… i cant see this phone being any different. However as a previous hiptop (canadian sidekick 2) owner…. look out danger mobile….
thanks a million Ed! you’ll have to share some of your rationalizations to your wife with me… i need all the help i can get in that area ;o)
Hi there,
