I am amazed that I still stumble across and discover shortcuts for the Nokia E61 (and other Eseries/S60 3rd edition devices) that I didn't know existed.
The other day I discovered that holding down the "End Key" will bring up a screen asking whether you want to close the active data connection or not. It might not be the most commonly used feature but nevertheless I think it is cool that the shortcut exist.
This "discovery" made me think of Ewan and how he accidentally discovered that holding down the "Yin Yang Key" "Application Key" brings up the list of all open applications.
I am sure that many of you already know of these shortcuts but I'm also pretty sure that this is new to many readers. Perhaps Nokia isn't "promoting" these shortcust, or rather isn't spending enough time on user education of the many hidden gems of S60 3rd edition. Here are a few shortcuts worth repeating…
My favourite shortcut is the convenient switching from "Normal" to "Silent" profile by holding down the # key.
Another useful shortcuts is "Blue Function Key" and "Ctrl" to activate Bluetooth.
Similarly, holding down "Blue Function Key" and "Chr" will activate the Infra-Red port.
Hold down the "Left Selection Key" and the "Blue Function Key" to quickly lock and unlock the keypad to prevent accidently dialing someone…

Do you use E61 for blackberry???
Boggles the mind but cannot get jpegs, word, ppt to open. Am told that blackberry connect strips or changes the file and no one at BB or Nokia in HK can advise what to do.

anyway, an alternative way to lock the keypad on the E61 is to press the Left Selection key and the “*” key, instead of the Left Selection Key and blue Fn key…
now i can lock the pad easily while using the phone with my right hand
Does anyone know how to assign a bookmark to an item that can be used in the shortcuts or app navigator functions?
probably this is old news but copy(ctrl + c) and paste(ctrl + v) shortcuts both work pretty well in sms, e-mail and notepad applications.

if you are viewing images in file manager and want to view them in full screen without using the menu, just press * to toggle between full screen and regular.
when you dial a number and press the Green key…believe it or not…you can actually hear someone in your phone say hello to you!!!…thats some freaky shite! ehehe just playin’. I LOVE THIS BLOG IT RULZ!!!!!
In Notepad (on a computer), when you press the TAB key, instead of a single character space, a larger space is created (maybe this “larger space” has a name/term of which I’m not aware of). How do you do that in Document viewer on the Nokia E61 ?
there is no end key it is in fact a bug with some fireware and the browser is in fact crashing,,,,but still use it as a end key,still the same thing
When viewing images, 5 zooms in, 0 zooms out and 1 rotates the image 90%. When fully zoomed out, left/right cycles images.
There should be an auto time out KEY LOCK function, like any other Nokia phone !! Why is there nothing on this super hi-tech E61 ??
Yes, you can click lock it with the left/top - left/bottom keys, like any other Nokia, but that is manual way.
Anybody knows how to lock it with timer ??

If u want to select multiple SMS or E-mails to delete , press the Shift button + joystick (up or down) and just press backspace… and Bingo !!!!!

Does anyone know how to solve a problem with a ‘crazy’ joystick?! Since few days ago, I have problems using the joystick of my E61 to navigate up/down; it went crazy - does not function, just scrolls on the right. Has anyone faced similar problem, and what could be the solution?
