PS - I think the reason they opted not to build GSM into it was that it would then be perceived as a phone, sold alongside phones, and the GSM Network operators would want their pound of flesh and want to strip the wireless etc. In this way the N800 is building a neat following, and lots of free software! unimpeded by big business and the GSM Operators that just want to protect their market share at the cost of giving us the devices we want (and at the cost of allowing Nokia etc to build the devices they want)

Lots of comments of 'totally useless' here... I have now been using the N800 for about a month and find that I am not even switching on my laptop at home anymore. I suspect that it is my laptop that is fast becoming useless. If I could plug my N800 into a stationary big screen (one at the office, one at home) and get a proper keyboard connected to it, my laptop would be pretty close to totally useless. Sure, I still need to carry my cellphone (E61i, great device, around) and there is a lot of redundancy here, but watch this space - as soon as the GSM networks start getting wiped out and WiMax type networks (or the next whatever it is) take over (and throw in skype and skypeout or something similar) the N800 and its decendants will be sitting pretty. Intel also seem to be coming to the same realization as they are launching a similar product.

I have an N800 (got it via holiday gift certificates and some of my own cash), and I really like it. But what I would love is if I could use my E70 as a bluetooth keyboard for it. The N800 has built-in support for bluetooth keyboards...

i agree with cameron. this is an excellent and really cool to use product. but...do i really need a dedicated device just for internet surfing? (keep in mind this is NOT a cellphone, but a internet table) sure, it will let you play your mp3s and watch a not-so-processor-demanding movie in its big screen (check reviews in the net), but actually i dont feel the need to own one, since y could do all the things it does with my other devices. im sure it would be cool messing around with the n800, but not at that price.

regards everyone.

Very nice device. I've seen this floating around before (there was another device that Nokia released earlier that was very similar...must have been an early model or something) and have been VERY tempted to buy but at the end of the day do I really need it? No, but it'd be damn fun to have .

Those are some good pictures, it really took me back to my good old Nokia 7710, they really look alike. But am a E-Series guy now, and plus I really don't like the idea of a wide screen phone anymore.
