I’m undecided :).
I own an E61, and I dont know what to get next; E61i or the E90.
February 12th, 2007 at 7:19 am
I want an E61i !!!
February 12th, 2007 at 7:19 am
Get both
February 12th, 2007 at 7:27 am
Who knows.. Frankly, I prefer E90, because of the 3,2 MP camera, and the HSDPA support. Of course the miniUSB is still an advantage.
February 12th, 2007 at 7:33 am
I’m using the E50 currently, but have a E61 too (i hate the joystick of it) but the new ones - wow. maybe i can get one cheap when they’re out.
Will they have S60v3 FP2? Or what did S60 3.1 mean?
February 12th, 2007 at 7:35 am
Hi Lutzs,
My understanding is that E90 will have S60 3.1 edition and the E65 and the E61i will have an “updated” S60 3rd edition.
February 12th, 2007 at 7:54 am
Oh man! My E61’s only 2 months old. Dang! I want the E90! Drool. Hey does this mean that Nokia’s gonna phase out the 9xxx Communicator series?
February 12th, 2007 at 7:57 am
I already have a E61 and the new one is not “really” better. I’m satisfy, my cellular phone is not still out of date. However, I advise to buy e61i if they want have a new smartphone
E90 is too big for me :p
February 12th, 2007 at 8:10 am
An E61 is for sale
….maybe ?????
February 12th, 2007 at 8:13 am
Ha ha, all you guys with a slight degree of “buyers remorse” Hang on to those newly purchased E61. It’s still a great device. The real big difference between the e61i as I see it is the camera.
February 12th, 2007 at 9:02 am
But the E90 still only supports 3G on 2100. I can’t imagine releasing a new phone like this, in that price bracket, that doesn’t support UMTS 850/1800/1900/2100. There are too many competitors that already do.
As for me, I want a quad UMTS E70. I like the split qwerty. the E90 is too long for me.
February 12th, 2007 at 9:04 am
WOW They are some truly UGLY phones.
I’ve been waiting for an E61 with camera to buy for my wife but there is NO WAY she’ll want that awful black silver thing. Looks like two different phones cobbled together.
=0/
Please Nokia, black or silver or for God’s sake Fuscia but pick one colour!
February 12th, 2007 at 9:08 am
ps.. sorry, the E90 will I’m sure be a great phone …inside but the outside looks like a black box that someone’s glued a normal phone fascia on to. ;0)
February 12th, 2007 at 9:15 am
these new phones are definitely a welcome addition to the E series family. i’d either get the E61i or the E90 while waiting for iPhone to arrive in Asia.
February 12th, 2007 at 10:02 am
I bought P990, but the software was so unstable that I had returned and change to E61
I’m in love with E61.
I also bought Nokia’s GPS module.
But, E90 has everything in it, except the touchscreen.
I could still live without it. Of course, I’d prefer with it.
However, having everything, GPS, Video Phone, 3.5G, bigger keyboards.
Darn!
This rock over P990i!
February 12th, 2007 at 10:35 am
I hope these latest E series phones will run lifeblog software- if they dont they should do now as they now have cameras built in.Does anybody know?
The E61i and E90 will be on my buy list and by the looks of them my Modding days are over as these look really smart just the way they are. Although an all black E61i would go well next to the black E50…

I love them! What a treat to have a modern QWERTY clamshell that has all the bells and whistles in the E90. Agreed that the E61i should make up its mind as to whether it’s black or silver, but that aside, it looks like a winner too! Any word on availability?
February 12th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
800×352 on E90…. :O superb screen
February 12th, 2007 at 1:50 pm
What?? a camera!!! its not a business phone anymore.
Where I work no cameras are allowed due security reasons,
so I have E61 & when I heard of E90 I thought this is my next phone, but
when I read that it has a camera… oh well… the search for alternative has begun.
I currently own (every phone with different sim & for different jobs):
Nokia E61 - 2 nos (I love these ones)
Nokia 9300i - 3 nos
NOKIA please think about us. Thank you.

Hi there,
I don’t really care if it comes in those colours. I am already ridiculous for carrying a “plate” in my pocket.:-).
Currently on E61, I wonder if the accessories will match the E61i like the AD-46 and the CR-47. Any ideas? The E61i looks ok yet it has or not a second camera for real video calling [or my girlfriend will still be in the dark?], Apparently the display is more like a square in shape and looks bigger compared to E61?
Is there any1 at Barcelona to take a closer look cause on the Nokia site there isn’t much.
Looking for your comments [any price tag yet?]
February 12th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
I think i know the answer to this already but I really think the e61i could do with a touch-screen.. Anyone got any idea if it does?
February 12th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
No touch screen but plenty of other good features
February 12th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Why did they have to launch the E61i????
Anyways it is 6gm heavier and has a camera… the only reason I would think of changing the E61 for the E61i would be the newer software version…
February 12th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
Hi. All I can say is WOW! I just love the E90. I currently have the E61. I was a fan of the Communicator Series. I loved the 9500 v much. But the drawback of no vibrate kept me back. I’ll try to buy this E90 as an addition to my E61. It has stereo bluetooth and AGPS!! I’m in love with it!!!
Btw, the E61i is also nice. Nice replacement for the joystick. It’ll be more comfortable.
February 13th, 2007 at 6:30 am
The 9xxx series seems to have been phased out in the UK - I had to replace my 9300 in December and was told by Vodafone and T-Mobile that it hadn’t been available for about six months. Still, the E61 is a great device, and the improvements on the E61i make me wish I didn’t have a year to run on my contract, although who knows where the series will be then. The E90 is an interesting addition. There must be enough of a demand for a flip case QWERTY phone to make it viable to update the line, even if it’s from Sun engineers wanting a replacement for their elderly 9000s
February 13th, 2007 at 6:32 am
I use the joystick on the E61 for games so I wonder how good the “Navi” key/pad would be for that? If only you could send back your old phones to Nokia for a paid upgrade
February 13th, 2007 at 11:11 pm
i’ll go for E90, very interesting phone with 3.2mp camera too. and bigger memory.
February 14th, 2007 at 5:59 am
Wow! E61i is 23% lighter than E61. That is a great news for people on the move. No more sagging holsters!!!
I am quite happy with my e61, but e61i made me drool and so did e90. I wish Symbian new version offered selection of menus based on letters. In devices without touch-pen, it becomes difficult to scroll everytime with the joystick and select. If there is an option where, say, the E in Edit is underlined Options is underlined, just pressing the E or O in the key-pad should make the appropriate selection. Right-now it is a pain in e61 to keep scrolling everytime. Thumb hurts.
BTW, I found the word and spreadsheet application in e61 horrible. The word documents consistently get corrupted. The spreadsheet is simply a maze. I mean….. how on earth can someone design such lousy applications!!!!
February 14th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
I want the E90!!!! Integrated GPS is way too cool!!! LOVE IT!
February 15th, 2007 at 10:59 am
I will sell the E61 and get the E61i, it’s just like one is Cooper One and the other a Cooper S, you see the difference…
February 16th, 2007 at 8:44 pm
Does E 90 Support local PC mail synchronization (i.e from Microsoft Outlook to Phone)? E61 doesn’t and that’s the only one defect for a smartphone that E61 has.
February 19th, 2007 at 10:34 am
Well it has taken me 3 months of troubleshooting but i’ve cracked it.
I am now running skype “iSkoot” and Gizmoproject on my Nokia E65. 3 months ago i bought the Nokia N80, what a terrible phone! bad design, bad build quality and maybe I was unlucky but my model was broken/faulty from day one, anyhow I basically wanted a mobile and skype phone in one for my long distance calling. I found out just before xmas that the Nokia N80 internet edition would have internet calling capabilities with the use of Gizmo http://gizmovoip.com/learn/ over Wi Fi. I bought the phone and apart from the fact that it was broken and i began to hate the design, the voip calling was great and quite clear. However the phone was still faulty so I changed it for the new and absolutely wonderful E65. This phone was the answer to all my problems with the N80, it’s as if Nokia listened to my complaints and punched out a new model for me in 2 months. I give the N80 2 out of 10 and the E65 a 9.5! Anyhow here’s what i have now: http://www.iskoot.com/ with Nokia E61 download option, which works perfectly on the E65 and the gizmoproject with N80 download option, also working well. So there you have it if you want a skype mobile then look no further that the E65 and with all the Hotspots around Helsinki including my office and home WLAN my phone bill’s have been carved not to mention never having to pay for a long distance call to Australia again or need to sit by my computer to talk.

I got E61i now and gave my N70 to my mom. I absolutely love it! It’s so smooth and slim. And the function? Superb! It’s so slim it feels like I’m only carrying a paper in the back pouch of my pants. I never regret buying this phone. And it’s so good reading my review notes in this phone because the screen’s so big. Just right. Love to the core!

I just purchased an e61i in Germany, but I live in the US. I want to use the phone in the US and Europe. However, when I turn the phone on, everything is in German and I can`t change the language to English. Also, when I go to “System” and “Sprache” (language), there is only one choice, “Englisch (UK)” and that is checked — however despite that, interface of the phone remains in German! Also, the keyboard is QWERTZ rather than QWERTY. Does that mean the phone is permanently locked into Deutsche?
