For me as a "business user" the Nokia E65 has a feature that will make a *big* difference in my daily routine.
It's something I have been waiting for a long time - easy access to some core "voice" functions. These are tasks that I perform over and over again.
The corresponding keys to these tasks are of course; Conference Call, Telephone/Address Book, Mute and a key I can assign to a function of my own choosing.
Conference Call Key
A dedicated key to establishing conference calls is most likely going to be very popular among most business users. This key can be used to set up a conference call using a predefined conference call number with an ID and a PIN. For an example, a reoccurring conference call with the same PIN and ID. But this key can also be used to set up a conference call selecting participants from the address book.
Mute Key
Brilliant! I've been waiting for this as well. A dedicated, easy to access, key to quickly mute and unmute. For anyone who participates regularly on long, winding conference calls with many participants, you know how important it is to be able to mute and unmute quickly. Finally, our wishes have been heard. I also think this mute key will come in handy when you are on a call with just one participant. For an example, when you are in a windy or noisy environment and your background noice prevents/disturbs the other party talking to you.

Address Book Key
Accessing the address book is probably the second most common task for me. (The first being checking email). I'm really happy to have a dedicated hard key for that. This enables me to easily access the address book while I am using other features of the device. For an example, I often find myself on the phone, needing to access the address book to look up some information. A dedicated address book key will make that much easier.

User Defined / "Own" Key
One of the great features of the Nokia E62 is the "own" key. A user defined key to access a function or feature of my own choosing. I'm glad this key now is included on the Nokia E65, as well as on the E61i.

As an end user, it feels as if Nokia put a lot of emphasis on user studies and user feedback when designing the Nokia E65. The cluster of core voice keys will make a big difference in the daily usage of a "prosumer" and "business user". I want one!
i heard e65 is out in mkt already
in asia
and i hope to get a loook it
I thought the choice to upgrade to the E61i was easy, Well you have just blown that, the E65 is an solid option as I don’t send that much e-mail so could do without a full keyboard. Thinking cap back on, Thanks for the review.
Thanks Trevor. I face the same challenge myself. I really like these keys on the E65 but I also like the QWERTY on the E61i….
e61fan, the Nokia E65 is already available in certain markets.
And what about E90? For me it is the new Mother of all phones. Has everything. The best of the best.
Arg!! e61 users were guinea pigs for nokia!
E65 (mocca-silver) is indeed available as we speak (at least here in Finland).
i actually dont like the layout of the keys on the new e61i and e61.. for people with big fingers its going to be a mess..
sam gonzales:
I’m 6′3″ and my fingers aren’t exactly tiny but I’ve got an E61 and have no trouble with it. You just need to learn to be a bit more nimble with your fingers.
@level3ninja I have no issue w\ the e61 - i said the keys on the e61i are all smaller and closer together
The E65 will be a good phone for week-ends.
I’ve just put my e61 in a drawer to use my new e65 full time. With mail for exchange on it it works perfectly! In fact i am entering this comment from my phone browser. With the t9 active i am almost as fast typing too. Except for url’s. But the killer thing about the e65 is the amazing radio. In spots where even the e61 dropped calls the e65 doesn’t skip a beat. I love it.
Cyberdoggie - how is the battery life on the e65?
Does the 1000mAh help keep the phone running for at least 2 days with normal usage? thanks
I have 2 questions:
(1) I difficulty see the thin fonts especially on the cell screens as i am becoming old . I need to be sure that the font of this phone is large and bold in all features esp. in address book in reading and writing data. If this is not found pls advise me which phone has the ability to change the font size.
(2) Is this phone is provided with the option that register the dates both in the phone address and the phone general calender simutaneously. That means, If i put the date of birth in the phone address it will be automatically marked in the phone calendar. If not pls advise me which phone has this.
Hi,
I just brought the phone. And i got 1 question. How are me put the default list of the contact which come from my SIM card instead of phone memory?
Hi I am waiting on my E65 arriving from my service provider and have been looking for a decent covr to protect my shinny newphone Krusell did a very nice leather one for the sliightly bulkier 6280 and i was hoping to get one like that.
Kindest Regards
Ann
[...] Much have been written and said about the gorgeous form factor, the unique keys on the front of the Nokia E65 and the great sliding mechanism. Therefore I will look at the device mainly from a software perspective. [...]
So they finally decided to copy the thing that PocketPC’s had from the start: four buttons that start the most used PIM-applications. Whoa
Hey, really considering this phone. Although I’m not a busy user, this phone has features thats appeal to me. (Thin slider phone). Not too worried about the poor camera as I have a digi cam.
Was just wondering though, can any of the other keys on the front be customised other than the “My Own” key? The conference call button would be of no real use to me.
thanks in advance.
Cool- Apple just released an update thats adds many new Nokia phones to Isync..

hi i recently purchased the nokia E65 here in Thailand, i heard its sold out already in other places in Asia..e.g.Hong Kong..
Anyway, i was wondering if someone could tell me how do u listen 2 the radio via the phone??
How do u use the radio through the Nokia E65?
Does the E65 has a radio and where can i find it?
Thanks alot
u can listen to webradio-stations via rtp-stream over umts or wlan
Well, After a few days with my E65. It is well built & quite slim. As an upgrade from Nokia 6230 &2688 It lacks the shortcut menu options. I wish I could built my own list & assign it to the user defined Key as i did with my last nokias (and not the upper menu), and I couldn’t find so far how to make the small fonts larger
Bought my E65 in Singapore (Mar27-07) w/ the mini 2G SDcard, great phone. WIFI is a+ and works great, best is track ball feature was available, L,R,Up and Down gets brutal. Downloaded Nokia PC Suite for it but having difficulties up loading my E65 picture gallery to my Dell LatLap?? Any one out there who has an answer for this delima?? Tks - Also, when buying tri or quad bands in US - the market sucks, the 4 big players lock up phones rendering them @*&% worthless, so don’t worry if the key pad is Chinese or foreign, if it works that’s what counts. Someone email me with a PC solution for my Gallery uploads, BTW the camera shots are excellent. Go Nokia! PS My buddy just bought the N95, bulky trouble with the GPS feature in city (Taipei), but what a mother of all phones yada yada - Later!!!
Hi, can u teach me how to activate the 4 buttons? i was able to use it for a few days but i dunno what i press, the 4 buttons doesnt work now… did i deactivate it somehow? if yes, please teach me how to activate it again. thanks in advance!
Hi Roy,
“Mute” and “Address Book” keys work without setting them up. The two other keys need some initial set-up. If the keys are not responding I would restart the phone (remove the battery and let it sit for a minute or two).
Hope that fixes it.
Ed
Kelvin, you can leave your existing contacts on your sim card: from there you can move them very swiftly to the phone’s memory, or to the micro sd memory card, or leave them right on the sim card. The address book allows you to choose from where to retrieve the addresses. It would make sense to consolidate them into the phone memory (address books do need editing occasionally!) then back your tidy list up to the micro sd card. You can then back that up to your pc. The software that comes with the phone makes this very easy.

have u tried, adobe ohotshop starter edition? it will automatically sniff and display fotos that are on your fone and store it too based on your selection of folders and individual items too. i have been using it for a long time and its pretty cool.
mark its photoshop, sorry for the typo

Fidelma McCabe, just restart your phone and it normally starts working for me again.
I just bought E65, 2GB Mikro SD, after having a Nokia7610 for 3,5 years. The two phones are similar design- and menu-wise. What a great feeling!!! The very improved E65, brings you hi-def games in 16m colors, even 3D 1st person combat games as Brothers in Arms (Ubisoft) runs smoothly. I have installed a AVI player, so I can enjoy Videos and and full length Movies, what a crowd pleaser !!! Stereospeakers Nokia MD-04, mini jack included, brings you a descent sound exp. to go with your videos or MP3´s. Enjoy… ;o)
hey i was thinking about buyign this phone.but i was just wondering if you can record songs from teh radio for example and them set them as a ringtone?? also whats the memory like?
hi, i just bought the phone. It look very nice with slim and powerful features. Did encounter the 4 business voice keys not function after a while, cracking my head looking if any settings that i accidentally turn off. But after turn off the phone and turn on again, it work fine.
Hi everyone, Anyone knows whether there will be another E series coming up? Maybe an improved version of E65 will be nice. I’ve being using my beautiful E65 for bout 8 months now but still cant get a free font magnifier anywhere on the web (event Nokia Europe & APAC).
I was around window shopping (in Singapore by the way) and saw this beautiful “SonyErickson” phone P1i. I took the leaflet for reading and am very impressed with the talktime/usage time. among others, I hope Nokia will release one similar and I will change my E65, hehehe. I have an idea how it will look like, maybe ??
[...] this feature was introduced in Nokia E65 but the positioning on the Nokia E51 is better - on the side of the device. Having a dedicated key [...]
I have the E65 and it is extremely disappointing. These “extra keys” are NOT improvements. In older Nokias (I had a 6230i and a 6610) the regular menu keys would become “hold” or other options intuitively once you were talking. This was very convenient because you didn’t end up having a more than a dozen tiny buttons on the face. In this horrible phone instead you have a clumsy interface with lots of buttons crammed together close by.
The “own key” is an example of the incompetence of this design. Most people I know use their phone as an alarm clock - there is no way to set “alarm” as an own feature so you are stuck using two levels of menu. The older 6230i has a “shortcuts” list which is much more practical.
This interface on this phone is as bad as the Samsungs I’ve tried.
Conclusion: I’m going back to my 6230i and this Nokia E65 piece of junk is going on ebay.
hi
I have problems with Nokia E65.The phone key pad never lits up even when the slider is opened or shut. Is that common with other sets or the problem is there with my set. The set that i own is Made in Finland
how to mute/OFF THE CAMERA MODE?
