Can't get enough of the newly released Eseries? Here are some photos of the Nokia E61i in the wild thanks to John S in Barcelona.
John S also sent his first five impressions of the device (from a hardware perspective).
- Greatly improved QWERTY keyboard. The new keyboard is much easier to use.
- The old joystick is replaced with a "Navi" key. This is another quantum improvement in usability.
- The Nokia E61i feels more "solid" and robust than its predecessor. Must be the stainless steel.
- Noticeable slimmer than the Nokia E61. Another great improvement.
- Dedicated phonebook and "my own" key.

2GB MiniSD is about the same price as the 2GB MicroSD. For $40 thats good enough, and to be honest, why is it a bad idea to downgrade/upgrade (how ever you see it) from MiniSD to MicroSD? Both can range up to 4GB, and rumored up to 16GB. And Im pretty sure the E61i/E61 can support up to 4GB
and Im ready to buy this once it comes out, but wait a little as price can drop like the E61 on its first release.
For the Processor, and the RAM, unfortunately, it would stay the same, but I believe the firmware it will come with has a patch that will atleast improve what the E61 handset is suffering from. And I believe the next firmware will release 2 more MB to the available RAM. And the “Original” Music Output*, will surely or should be available with the E61i.
Now, the 4-Way Nav-Key is better than the current joystick, as it gets stiff and hard to navigate when used for a while on a E61. But the bad side is, if you are playing a game, which requires a full digital/rotational support, the nav-key wont support it. But hey the control should be more responsive, which doesnt require much power to open an application, and the keyboard, should be faster at typing, cause’ of the added space in between.
* - Make a Voice Call to customer service, or dial a number on the E61, and open or switch to Music Player and play a song, now notice the output is much louder and richer. That is not a bug, but an error and conflicts with the phone, because of the ability to play Media Files while on a call. E61i should have this fixed, and now we can listen to Music and watch Video the way its supposed to sound
P.S. as long as the E61i is not crippled like the E62, were fine!
Also, I almost forgot, this phone will be released in the U.S., and thats one of the reason why I dont want to get it, meaning other common people will have this. Not sure about the Carrier, but it will be between Cingular, the “New AT&T” (which is rumored to bring back the Blue Sim Cards) and T-Mobile.
E61i we are all waiting for your arrival, please dont dissapoint us. But if you do, N95 or possibly E90, here we come
Its a shame that it will have the still old processor because even phones like the motorola Z8 will have TI 2420.
E61i..wow..This phone is sexy.E61i looks better than E61 but features are almost the same except that E61i comes with a built in 2MP camera.Its worth buying if you don’t have E61.Nowadays phones comes with increased memory sizes and it’s a pity that this phone come with only 60MB shared memory.One of the small features i got impressed was the message reader which i guess is included in this latest model.Got to go for this model by all means.

It is sure a much better choice than both E61 and E61, which could be immediately discontinued. This might reduce the E61i price. This phone may ultimatelly be a good replacement for my E62, as soon as Brazilian carriers make it available (maybe already this Q1) at reasonable plan fees. By the way, is anyone here the happy owner of an E61i?
Yup it is available in india , i bought it from an authorised shop with bill and warranty 9not grey market) for Rs.20900. But be careful, if you are going to use the blackberry servivce on it then Please check because there are a few goofups there. As in the blackberry works but google talk and other apps do not. also to surf the web you have to go for another plan besides the blackberry plan. which would not be necessary if you are using the Blackberry handset

Wow, im in love - beautiful, well finished, solid, slim, packed and Office tweaked! Im saving money for this Nokia E61i in order to upgrade from my Nokia 6021. A big upgrade for me, who have momentarely, a Moto L7 SVLR from the office… And the E61i can be added a GPS symbian APP i was told along a nokia kit aside - so whats missing on the e61i, in my opinion, its a “touch-screen” as if it was a PDA!
Not that i will thumb-eype on the QWERTY but i need to check my emails regularly and be able to receive attachments on ZIP files to be able to work on my macbook and ship the work back to the office. Here in Portugal the E61i fetches 450€ but i found one in USA shop for only 315€ + VAT (see website signature) - is there something i should know about, concerning the european compatibility, if i get to by it from California Shop?

Hi all, just ordered my new nokia E61i and im picking it up at the store this monday. WOW, i cant wait to get my hands on that beauty and e-mail away!
Only then, i will post my first-impressions and hopefully with no questions or errors to comment on, as i settle in with my Nokia (but we never know, coming from a n00b like me LOL)

sorry to be so annoying about the E61i, but is there a nokia pair of earplugs in stereo mode and wireless bluetooth, that im not aware of ? Since i dont see none over at nokia website compatible with the E61i, i guess im stuck with Nokia Stereo Headset HS-23, lookalikes! Do you know another brand, compatible with this phone, please?

Its an excellent phone and have all the connectivity features in it. keypad is also awesome and typing is very fine and fast. Email and browsing is also the best in this device. if you dont have any issue about the size then its a must buy.

Set your Apps Manager to let all installation possible. If it says expired Certificate..please set your phone’s date backward..2005 for example..

I have been using NOKIA 9500 till now for my business purposes. But now i wish to buy NOKIA E 61i this weekend or probably early next week. Can any one provide relevent answers to my questions to help me choose a right fone for my self.
1. what is the max size of attachment that can be viewed in this phone ?
2. how many e-mail accounts can we confgure at same time ?
3. can i use it as a fax device as i do it with my NOKIA 9500 communicator ?
4. how good is the reception of WLAN radio or WiFi ?
5. can we configure the wifi easily at airports ?
6. is this fone more fast n efficiant than those running on windows platform ?
7. how good is the battery back up ?
