DST Update for E series users: Why does America have to be different?…
What was wrong with the previous DST dates that the USA had to sign in to legislation times that were more convenient to them, but shaft everyone else? I’ve been sitting on this story for a while now, but after…

hemalshah,
Every Nokia E61 theme on this blog also works on the E62. Try looking at the theme page.

I find it odd that this relates to the United States and there is no download link for the E62.
February 28th, 2007 at 2:42 am
Anyone downloaded this? Was there an issue?
I have just checked the link http://europe.nokia.com/A4149167...
Sadly, seems to me the DST 2007 patch has been removed!
February 28th, 2007 at 5:22 am
The file for the E61 seems to have been removed from the Nokia Europe link above. Not on the AU website either yet.
Does anyone know if this includes an update for Perth, Australia daylight savings too?

Looks like the update links have been removed from Nokia Europe for all models
March 1st, 2007 at 1:36 am
Update: Just noticed that downloads for only the ESeries devices have been removed. The downloads for NSeries mobiles are still available which I’ve mentioned on my website.

Anyone’s got any idea if they are going to post those updates again before March 11th?
March 1st, 2007 at 9:22 am
@Param
No idea, but Nokia is also late posting patch for Intellisync (www.intellisync.com) , I am looking for that patch too. Nokia promised to release patch on 28 Feb but insofar… no news.
Very bad on the software developers, they knewe DST is going to change since Aug 2005! Why is the patch running so late.
I guess if Nokia is late, I can mentally adjust between Mar 11 and Apr 01. I don’t want to make any manual adjustment just in case Nokia comes out with the patch and if I apply it, all my manual adjustments will be out by an hour.
I hope Nokia come up with a working patch soon.

Based on some input from another site I downloaded the the upgrader for the N91 to my E61 and it worked great. Don’t forget to restart your phone for the changes to take effect.

Stephen,
Where did you find the update? I’ve been looking for a while now, and can’t find one.
TIA

Replying to me earlier… found the updates via the later blog entry and it DOES include Perth, Australia’s updates.

The Nokia E62 is not affected by the Daylight Savings time stuff, there is no action required. Here is the link to the information (along with hyperlinks for other phones):

The Cingular site states that there is no need for a patch for the E62 and it will automatically adjust for the new DST by itself.

When I install on my E61 I get SIS file not supported. Any ideas?
March 12th, 2007 at 11:26 am
Use the N91 patch as described above …. I just used it and it worked fine.
March 12th, 2007 at 11:44 am
I get the smae problem, SIS not supported
March 12th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
For those who get a “SIS not supported”, have you by any chance changed the model ID?
Here’s an interesting factoid: the N91 update is 15K. The E61 update is 516K. Hmm…
Still, stuff the N91 software on the E61. It works…
March 12th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
Thank You Ed the N91 patch worked fine!

Actually, it appears the E62 *does* have a DST bug. But it isn’t what you’d expect. If you hard set it to your time zone, it works fine. If you use the default “Network Time = Auto-Update,” it breaks in states like Arizona and Hawaii that don’t do DST. This started last Sunday. Worked fine before then. If I let the phone auto-update, it says “GMT -6:00″ and is one hour head of the correct time. I went to a Cingular store in Mesa, and the demo unit they had in the store had the same problem. There is no fix, and calls to Cingular and Nokia resulted in finger-pointing. All the other phones (Nokia, LG, Sony Ericsson, Motorola) in the store handled auto-update just fine, but the E62 is broken.
The firmware on the affected phones is version is 2.0618.06.17. To find out if you have this version, press “*#0000#” on your E62. Sadly, this is the most current version of the firmware as of Thursday, March 15th, 2007. There is no newer version available.
If you live in an area that *does* do DST, then you won’t see this bug.

Happen to come to this site and saw about this bug. Why the link no longer contain the files for debug? Any help here? What is the bug exactly? Can anyone care to explain more?
March 20th, 2007 at 8:47 am
Actually, the bug also applies if the carrier sends out the time zone offset incorrectly… Up in Toronto, Rogers started sending out GMT-4 as it’s time zone offset on March 11th, but of course the E62 picked that up as GMT-3, since it adjusted for an _extra_ hour.
I suspect the problem is a combination of the DST issue and the offset that the _carrier_ is sending out. The E62 is trying to be smart about DST, whereas most phones _won’t_ do this, so it ends up being up to the carrier to specify the DST offset when they send out their time sync.

Hi. I got an E61 and I live in Brazil.
In my region the Daylight saving time doesn’t work, so I’m one hour later than the oficial hour.
How can I change my E61 so it doesn’t update the clock?
November 1st, 2007 at 10:43 pm
The DST 2007 problem does apply to the E62. I was having the wrong meeting times for the whole week this week. Fortunately, I just tried the patch for E61 (following the link on the first post) on my E62. And it seemed to have worked properly on the E62 as well.
