New Version Of Gmail
Those Googlers certainly don't rest on their laurels.
There is a new version (new to me at least) of the Gmail appplication for Nokia E61 and the rest of the Eseries devices.

The new version is supposed to be faster and provide a more Gmail-like user experience. It will also keep your Gmail account synchronized whether you access it from your PC or your phone. An email sent from your mobile device will be in the 'Sent Mail' folder on your PC.
The new version can be downloaded directly to your device from the following URL gmail.com/app
Thank you Mark!

Any idea who to contact abou that?

The same for N95, they have added a few language versions as well…

the old version was 1.01(0) this one seems to be 1.01(1) at least on my N80ie

I use it already but can’t figure out how to turn on numeric shortcuts. Anybody did it?

Jon is right. It is a small upgrade. I use it on my e65.

I am afraid this is just the (for me) old 1.01 version (doesn’t ‘1.01(1)’ mean second (after zero) installation?
But don’t stop to make us happy. We don’t want to miss anything…
Next time you are the first

I can configure GMAIL as POP3 on my E61!!
April 26th, 2007 at 3:19 am
@Harshal: That is right. For others: don’t forget to tell Gmail you want to use POP.

When downloading it, the warning says version 1.01, but when running the app if I go Menu / Go to / Help it says version 1.1.1.
April 26th, 2007 at 3:46 am
Yesss… mine also 1.01(1). but can you attach file or something… in gmail version 1.01(1)
April 26th, 2007 at 4:07 am
hmm, who needs their app when u can pop3 configure it on your mobile?
April 26th, 2007 at 4:49 am
FAiL - Because the app has 2 way syncronization, and is a heck of a lot faster than using pop3.
Thumbs up google.

Mine is still 1.0.0 no new version for me on my 6233
April 26th, 2007 at 5:19 am
I don’t get it. It was always possible to configure Gmail as pop3, with hickups I thought… or is it different now?
April 26th, 2007 at 5:57 am
I prefer my E70 mail client
It works great.
But why when I read the gmail mail on my phone it doesn’t become a “Read” email on the PC :S ?
April 26th, 2007 at 7:10 am
I just updated.. very nice
. But, I guess I prefer using pop3 access over the application because the eMail is more integrated in the operating system (especially with attachments and so forth), but the application is particularly useful for viewing my items under my numerous labels.. ahhah.

what’s the deal with no attachments in the gmail java app?
April 26th, 2007 at 8:14 am
Hmmmm… How can I see wich version I have installed? Downloaded the version above but can´t see any difference?
April 26th, 2007 at 10:31 am
every time I click a link in the gmail app i have to point it to an access point (i’m using wifi). isn’t there a way to make it remember the access point so I don’t have to keep selecting it? (like when I’m surfing the web)
April 26th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
For me the gmail application is good as my provider block port 25 access. This app uses port 80 by default.
April 27th, 2007 at 6:16 am
Still doesn’t collect attachments from my N80 or more importantly auto refresh/notify.
April 27th, 2007 at 9:45 am
now how about a gmail app that works with gmail for google apps domains! that’s the one big thing i’m missing so far.
April 28th, 2007 at 3:27 am
Gmail should provide IMAP access, not that POP shit.
April 28th, 2007 at 9:43 am
I just upgraded to 1.1.1. Before I downloaded from gmail.com/app, I check the version I had which was 1.1.0. When I was downloading, it said the version was 1.0.1. Strange. Not sure what the difference is though. I don’t see any changes.
But it did upgrade to 1.1.1. Just check the version before & after the install.
Ditto on Google getting us IMAP and/or an app for domain mail. Either or both would be awesome.

I’ll still use the built-in email client, even though it’s also flawed. Here even the numeric shortcuts don’t work. A company with that budget can do better, sorry.

I have downloaded and installed GMail. But where can I find the application in the menu. Only under Installation?
I have now placed it in the Active Standby.
Is there any way, that it can remember an Access point?
Thanks,
Bas
