Nokia E65 Review
Shaun McGill used to regularly write about the Nokia E61.
His Nokia E61 blog was one of my favourite E61 blogs. Unfortunately, Shaun had to re-prioritize his commitments and spend more time on his other blogs.
However, from time to time Shaun updates his old blog. A few days ago he posted a very insightful first look at the Nokia E65. Well worth reading.
I look forward to the next installment of his review of the Nokia E65.
Shaun, please continue updating your blog!
Update: part two of Shaun's very thorough review is up.
Update: part three, the final thoughts of Shaun's E65 review is up.

Very good review.
E65 = greatest backup phone evah! Actually, its starting to give my P990 the beginnings of what might possibly develop into a mild inferiority complex.

Hi,
Need advices on the E65,
1. How can I increase the font size?
2. Battery hardly last a day when I have Wifi turn on. It is normal?
3. I load Fring to use Skype and MSN. Work at home’s Wifi but cannot connect using my office Wifi, which I can use for Gmail and Surfing.
4. Although my Nokia PC Suite is working through Bluetooth, on my MS-Vista Notebook, it detect another Bluetooth Peripheral Device but could not find driver it install it. This happen after I install Nokia PC Suite and connect via Bluetooth to my Notebook.
5. I cannot find some contacts in my phone in the PC suite. I did refreshed the contacts between Phone and PC. However those missing contacts still did not get updated to the PC suite. Sometime PC suite would display wrong contact name on incoming SMS message.
Appreciate your help.

Hi ,I,ve had E65 for 2 months already. It is a great phone I’d say.Unfortunatelly I experience a great problem - when switching from UMTS to GSM the handset just stops working. The only thing that works is pulling out the battery!!!! I think it is a software problem, but still there is no update released yet!
Any suggestions on this?

Hi,
I need some information about the e65 before buying it. I’ve read all over that one cannot change the system font size in this phone, but does that hold true for applications like QuickOffice or PDF viewers or Mobipocket, etc? I need a phone that I can read books on in a moving vehicle and the default font size I’ve seen on the e65 so far is just too small for prolonged use.
Thanks.

Anyone know what is the actual processor speed for E65?
It is a lot faster than my previous N73 but from what I read in various websites, it is not clearly shown.
Some said 220MHz, some 222MHz and even 333MHz.

does anyone know how to lock the keypad without sliding the phone up and down? somewhere in the menu?
August 25th, 2007 at 7:16 am
You can download software from nokia site to lock keypad with slider you have to pay but only €5 it works well

To answer an incoming call with the slide, open the slide. To end the call, close the slide. If you want to close the slide during a
call but not end the call, press the left selection key, and close the slide within a few seconds.

Roger: to lock the phone without opening & closing the slider, press briefly on the power button & choose Lock keypad
I use Autolock — http://fuse.stc.cx/autolock/
Dave, any idea if there is something free to do the same thing?

Personally I find the E65 very slow in some menu’s.
A step back in time compared to the 6120 classic and the N95 8G.
Also with the new software update I had hoped to find the same setting as on the 6120 and N95 where You have an option to change to bigger text in the menu’s. Otherwhise I do like the solid and practical design.

Bigger fonts please!!!!!!! Is there any chance this wil be available before I go blind?

John R,
Why don’t you use Font Magnifier?

Downloaded and registered PSILOC FONT MAGNIFIER version 1.35 on my E65 with new software. Following the steps as described by Psiloc.
It DOES NOT WORK! It seems I have the short version (trial) with two white blocks one with original text, the second with enlarging text but that’s all. When enlarging the text and select Apply, the phone reboots but no enlargement is happening! Re-downloaded the application on the phone memory and still the same problem. Someone have any suggestion? Thanks.

Just got this answer from PSILOC FONT MAGNIFIER:
Please excuse us for the problem - it seems that by mistake non working version was placed in shop. We have fixed this and now workingversion 1.35 is available for download. Please download it and install it in your phone. Before you do this please first uninstall previous version and reboot your phone.
After following there suggested procédure, still the same PROBLEM !

It works on my E65 !
FONT MAGNIFIER finally WORKS after downloading the workingversion 1.35
