Nokia E65: Red or Mocca?
![]()
Do you have a hard time deciding which colour of the Nokia E65 to buy?
Do you like the Red Nokia E65 but also think the Mocca Nokia E65 is stylish?
Or perhaps you already bought one Nokia E65 but wish you had bought the other colour?
I bought the Mocca Nokia E65 (the only colour available at the time) but think the Red is nicer looking. Not having the wallet to support yet another cellphone purchase I started to look around on the web for some Nokia E65 housings and found a few options.
Handy-Designer, which I wrote about quite some time ago is selling original Red and Mocca Nokia E65 housing. They also sell spare parts. If you ever are looking for a new LCD screen or a replacement keypad. They have it all.
Unfortunately, Handy-Designer doesn't ship to the US :-(
Luckily, Blue Unplugged also sell Nokia E65 spare parts including original housing. Another option is L8 Shop with an equally extensive list of Nokia E65 spare parts.
I placed an order with Blue Unplugged so a week from now my Mocca Nokia E65 will be a Red Nokia E65 :-)

You do know that the E65 is also available in black! They are rather rare since they are exclusively for THREE (the mobile phone provider). Look: http://www.three.co.uk

I hope it will be easy to replace the covers.

I have had the red for three weeks and I would never give it up. It is a quite distinctive phone

I returned my N95 to the Nokia Flagship Store in NYC last week after growing tired of the utterly abysmal battery life. Normal use, not using BT or GPS, and my battery was dead by the end of the day. Add in a bit of BT and some browsing on the train, and dead before I got home.
I replaced it with a Mocha E65, which I also picked up at the Flagship Store. So far, it’s a great phone, with 2 annoyances. Periodically, I get the “Configure Voicemail” indicator on my standby screen, despite having done that already. Also, the “scan for WLAN” options (Tools > Settings > Connections….) do NOT stick - if I shut it off, mysteriously, it will come back on.
Review of the E65 coming soon, though no unboxing pr0n - I leave that in Ed’s capable hands..

You’re quite right Ed, the red looks a lot better.

hi, let me know if its easy to assemble the E65 red casing. What are the tools needed? thanks

I tried to disassemble mine. It was close to being a disaster. I was able to replace the front case and the battery cover of course, but the back part with the camera screen seems to require destroying part of the phone. So now I have a multicolored phone. Where would I find someone qualified to finish the job?

[...] My Nokia E65 Red housing which I mentioned in an earlier post arrived. Thinking that the transformation would be as easy as when I tore apart my Nokia E61 and changed the original casing to a blue third party casing, I wasted no time and started to dismantle the Nokia E65. [...]

yumm, now a black E65 would be nice. i wonder if you brought it to an authorized Nokia repair center if they can do it.

The E65 from three really is black, and it’s clearly different to the Mocha one. I quite like my black E65, but then the Mocha ain’t bad either

There’s a girl I’m into, and she’s got an old Nokia 6101. I really feel sorry for her having to use that and was thinking about getting her an E65. Not sure whether to get a black or a red one. Will she appreciate the gesture as much as you guys would? I doubt it. Ah well, we’ll have to see how things go with her.
