I apologize for my question in advance, but do you download the application via your phone's browser, or is there a way to transfer the app to your phone? I have a mac, so I use isync for contacts and such, but would I need to use a pc to do this?

if there are any basic directions for how to get the app up and running, they'd be very appreciated

I agree that the Treo's threaded SMS app is the gold standard. It's perfect for a conversation, just like AOL Instant Messenger or Apple's iChat. I'm trying the 15 day version of SMS Chat for my E61i but I won't buy anything until it matches what the Treo gave me.

After trying to use it as my main SMS client for the last week, I've found it is very pretty but it crashes pretty much after every other txt sent.

Even with the 'crashes', the 'unread sms', & the 'compose without being able to see the rest of the thread' problems, this is obviously an app that users really want.

Hope they can keep improving it.

Love it!, I too had a Treo and upgraded to the E6xi. Even without the threaded chat, the E6x rocked over a Treo. Treo's were always failing.

Thank you for a great rev 1.0, looking forward to subsequent revisions that will no doubt get better. Thanks

i agree with you there, chris; as good as it is i still don't see the e61i as a "treo-killer" and the threaded SMS is one of the reasons why (same here--three years with a 600 and two 650's).... i also wish there was a way of enlarging the font within this app. i already have Font Magnifier installed but it seems to have no effect on SMSChat, even with "other fonts" maximized. any tips?

Chris,

I agree. We're all using the treo as a benchmark for these threaded sms applications. I thought that was annoying as well. It organizes your conversation in a "chat-style" format, but once you start a new sms it is back to the old way of composing a message. I really hope this company releases new versions on a regular basis. I really believe they're on the right track.

I spent some 3 years with Treo 600 and 650 - this "works" but it't no where near as good as the Treo version. You can't even see the previous messages as you compose your reply.
