Nokia Media Transfer
Tommi writes that Nokia has started to love Mac. Sure, with release of the Nokia Media Transfer application which enables you to transfer pictures, videos, podcasts, music, and files between your Nokia mobile device and your Mac, you would think so but…
Sadly though, this is currently only for the Nseries devices….

Nokia Media Transfer supports file transfer of photos and video from iPhoto to the device and music, podcasts and videos in iTunes to your Nseries device - exactly what I would want for my Nokia E61i and for my future Nokia E90…

Don't bother trying to "trick" the application to support your Eseries device - it won't let you.
I understand that Eseries and Nseries fundamentally have different target audiences. However, at some point there is an overlap of users and uses for the devices. An Eseries user might be an "Enterprise customer" but he/she is also a consumer with multimedia as a priority.
The same goes for an N95 user. He/she is most certainly have Enterprise "needs".
I would say that in many aspects the Nokia E90 and the Nokia N95 share the same target audience - a mobile professional who expects a lot out of his/her device and also willing to invest a great deal of money to get these features.
(I have received quite a few emails from readers who are asking me whether they should buy a Nokia E90 or a N95)
I hope that Nokia soon implements support for Nokia Media Transfer for Eseries and Enterprise email support, such as Mail For Exchange, for high end Nseries devices.
Update: Joshua at Techtransit has posted a great tutorial explaining how to hack support for Eseries devices for Nokia Media Transfer.
As always, if you are unfamiliar with hacks this might not be for you.

Hello,
First time with a Series 60 or Nokia here.
Why do you need a transfer application? Can’t you transfer files by Bluetooth File Exchange or even mount a microSD card on the Mac OS desktop and drag files over?
Or does NMT re-size the photos and videos to work on the Nokia phones as iTunes does with photos and videos on the iPod?
Does the media have to be in specific directories on the microSD card?
Does the E61i even have the hardware capability or the software players to play back podcasts, videos and photos intended for the iPod?
All I see in the Media folder is a Real Player, a generic Music Player and Flash Player Lite. None of these obviously will stream videos from sites like Youtube and the browser doesn’t appear to let you download video files (no right-click option to save the file, only can save links).
I’m curious to see how people are playing media if they do get them transferred to the phones. Google search indicated MP3 and AAC are supported but which video formats would be supported? Probably not Divx but some H.264 variants?

You can just use bluetooth or mount the microSD card (SDHC if you’ve an E61i/N95).
You can hack NMP to recognise the E61i. http://techtransit.blogspot.com/2007/06/more-e-series-profiles-for-nokia-media.html
NMT resizes the photo’s and gives you the option to sync specific folders from iPhoto or iTunes. It can also choose to fill a given percentage of your machine with randomly selected tunes.
The E61i can play back podcasts, mp3’s AAC and photos. I’m not so sure on iTunes videos . It will certainly play vids (mpeg4).mp4 DivX encoded. Not H.264 (weird huh?). You can always re-encode with FFmpegX if that’s a problem. No Youtube, sorry.

There’s a new build out now that adds support for some of the E Series.
There’s an article here about this new release:
