Bring out the cake and celebrate, Mail For Exchange hits the big TWO DOT OH!
This is by no means a minor update. This is a big step forward for an already solid application.
Nokia released a new version of its implementation of Microsoft's Exchange Activesync technology - Mail For Exchange 2.0
The new version of Mail For Exchange introduces many new features. Some of these new features are:
- Support for accept/decline of received meeting requests.
- Global Address List (GAL) lookup
- Task synchronization -server tasks are listed in the calendar.
- In device search - the search application on ESeries devices will search for content in Mail forExchange emails synchronized to the device.
- Additional support for Nokia Nseries devices -MFE is compatible with Nokia N73, N76 and N95
- The application is now installed in a separate folder called - MfE
- and more…
Upgrading from any previous version to Mail for Exchange 2.0 requires that you perform a Full Resync. This is required to utilize the new Task synchronization feature.
Start the Mail for Exchange application and select Options > Full resync.
When opening a meeting request you will be informed if there is a scheduling conflict. You can choose to accept, decline or tentatively accept the meeting. The meeting will be added to the calendar if MFE is set to synchronize the calendar.
Global address book lookup can be performed through selecting Options > Company Directory in email compose mode.
There is also a Company Directory application "Comp. Dir" in the MFE folder which you can use to search for address information of other Exchange users.
Download Mail For Exchange 2.0 here.
Is there a way to list the future calendar events in the active standby screen , instead of saying ‘there is no calendar entries for today’? So for example I have nothing in the calendar for today and tomorrow, but I would like to see what’s the first next calendar entry? Thanks
can I sync my e61i with MFE 2.0 and Nokia PC Suite or any other sync software
Regards - Paul
I installed MFE 2.0 on my N73 (and just upgraded the phone software/firmware to the latest version). I use Cingular/ATT.
I was able to connect to the Exchange 2007 server via the web browser (to test out the access point, which I configured without a proxy). I am able to enter the user/password and connect. However, when I go to sync, it says “Connecting…”, then “Connected…” for about 2 seconds. Then it simply says “Connection Error! Try again later.”
Reviewing the admin log, it says “Missing Protocol Version Header, Reverting to EAS 2.0″. The next entry says “HTTP Server Error 404: Not Found”.
This is crazy, since the same bloody server was found when connecting through the web browser. The credentials are correct as well. Any ideas why it would connect and then immediately bomb out?
Thanks in advance. Greg
Greg H - I don’t know why that happens but I have seen it on two other e series phones. A complete uninstall and reinstall of MFE 2.0 should solve the problem.
Hey Keatisk..I had accidentally removed M4E 1.6 from my E62. Now, when I try to install the latest version 2.0, I keep getting an error message “Update Error”. Please mail me the old version at abhishek.mittal@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Abhishek

I am giving up on 2.1 and the SSL issue. Could someone please email me 1.6 for the E61? Thanks so much.
Techai
Hey everyone, am using an E65 with ATT, and recently tried installing MFE 2.1 (today actually so it’s the latest version). Everything works great — except I can’t send mail. Emails that I try to send are queued up, and I haven’t been able to do anything to actually clear my outbox. I tried the access point trick, tried powering off and on, messed with settings…and nothing.
Any ideas????
Thanks, Scott
(Also have the new 3G version of N95 — am assuming there are going to be similar problems…haven’t charged it yet)
Regarding the requests for Notes sync. There’s no way M4E can offer this. Microsoft Exchange doesn’t support syncing of Notes over the air from the server to any client, period. The only way of syncing Notes is directly to Outlook on your PC via PC Suite. If that’s not possible, and you need that info to be kept up to date while away from your PC, one common workaround is to convert Notes into Tasks.
I am another victom of “update error” on E62 while installing M4E 2.1. Can someone mail me the older version , M4E 1.06, to me on arthanvi at yahoo dot com. Thanks in advance.
arthanvi - MFE 1.6 should be in your inbox. Good Luck!
what if my exchnage server is not using SSL? i already selecy “No” in secure connection but still cannot syncronise..
PLEASE HELP..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mail for Exchange 2.2.0 is out!!!
I’m a newbie, I just installed MFE and was wondering what the impact on battery life is if i set ‘always online’ for approx 12 hours and every 4 hrs after that. does it depend on the amount of data transfer, or does the always on link use up huge amounts of juice, thanks
Greg did you ever get to the bottom of the error you encountered as I have just migrated my exchange to a different box and I now have the same error.
“Missing Protocol Version Header, Reverting to EAS 2.0″. The next entry says “HTTP Server Error 404: Not Found”.
Really hoping someone can help.
Just downloaded MfE 2.3, and tried to install it on my E70, which already has v2.1 installed. The install pops up and says ‘MfE 2.1 is installed, upgrade with 2.3′ so I select yes, the install starts, the progress bar slides along to 50% then stops and errors with ‘Installation Cancelled’.
Anyone know a way around this (installation settings has already been changed from signed to all)? I don’t really want to have to remove MfE 2.1 first, as it has all my settings (including a fairly long signature). Is there an installation log somewhere that will tell me why it failled? I looked in the Installed Apps Manager, but the log there just tells you when applications were installed.
I’ve just installed M4E v 2.3 on my E51. The error I get is the same as the one that Greg and Kenton get:
“Missing Protocol Version Header, Reverting to EAS 2.0″. The next entry says “HTTP Server Error 404: Not Found”.
I can browse to http://servername/oma from both mobile and my laptop. It’s very frustrating…
Did anyone get to the bottom of this?
Thanks
MFE 2.3 on my e90 keeps locking my keypade and demands for lock codes.
after 5 attempts it wipes eveything in my phone user data. this has happened twice. my mailbox password doesnt work when the lock code prompts up. coudl someone advice.
“Support for accept/decline of received meeting requests.

I have E90 ,after upload new release ,the option for accept the meeting is not apprear, also when I upload company directory,it says you have already MFE and you can’t ,can some one urgent guide me please ?
Hi Mjawdat,
The option to accept/decline meeting requests is only visible when you have received a meeting request.
If this option is NOT visible when you have a meeting request you are using an old version.
You can check your version number by going to your installation folder, open the application manager, look for Mail for Exchange and use the option key to see the details of the version of MfE.

the version is 2.03(0),valid from 21/01/2008 -serial number:05F3,is this correct ?
and also what about upload company directory,it says you have already MFE and you can’t install?
can I have contact number ?
I acknowledge that you can accept/decline meeting requests, but I cannot initiate a meeting request. Is this option available through some sort of an enterprise version? Or shoukld I move to Intellisync?
any progress for my quiry ?
Since one week I submit in nokia web site the problem that I am facing but no one contact me,I call nokia call center several times and they tried to help ,but every time I need to explain the problem to new caller without any solving my problem .
Hi Mjawdat,
Originating meeting request is not supported on Mail for Exchange. The issue with the company directory could be related to the Exchange server itself. An easy way to test that is to try out RoadSync from Dataviz, which is also based on Exchange ActiveSync (there is a free trial available), if you cannot access your company directory with neither of the two solutions I am pretty sure that the issue lies with the way your Exchange server is configured.
Cheers

Guyz, I mistakenly deleted the pre-installed MfE application that came with my Nokia E61i. I have tried re-installing the 2.3.0 version from the nokia website but I keep getting an error message “File Corrupted” A riend downloaded it and sent it to me and this time, the error message I got was “Update Error” I tried changing my date to 2007 but got a certificate error report. I have called Nokia several times but no one can assist me. Please please please assist with information to my mailbox. Maybe anyone can send me the older version of MfE. Waiting earnestly for a response. Thanx. reptyle7@gmail.com
My Dears, is there a way o sync the outbox, so that you can see in Outlook the Emails which were sent through the E90?
Thanks.
