Faster, Faster, Faster
I did it again. But this time faster. My previous post about using TomTom with a GPS receiver on my Nokia E61 while flying generated a lot of good comments.
I also received a challenge from Maciek of Symbiosis S60 Blog who used his Nokia N95 to clock in a higher speed than my original 777km/h. Maciek recorded a speed of 874km/h per his post. Another reader - Jay, recorded a speed of 846 km/h

OK Maciek, beat this 1006 km/h

Cool, only when reading the headline, I was hoping Nokia had released a fimware to make the E-seies OS faster and more responsive - especially the E65, which in my opening lags a lot!! There’s 1-2 seconds waiting for absolutely everything except opening the Address Book or the Main Menu - everything else is slow.
Anyways, cool news.

Err…. Torstein, just don’t use ‘Exit’ in each app every time. Hey presto, lightning fast app access. It’s a multitasking computer, you know!!!!!

Oh crap….I guess I will have to tell our pilots to push the pedal to the metal next time. I’ll try my best. Usually westbound flights tend to go a bit faster so maybe I’ll be able to beat you to it. I just hope I won’t be stuck in the middle aisle.

Funny, but do you know what the error is for being up high in the air instead of on the ground?

What wouldbe really cool is if we could find a fast jet pilot to do this. Will TomTom work at Mach 2?

On my flight from Frankfurt, I could not seem to lock any gps satellites on the 777 aircraft’s window with my nokia external gps receiver bt to my e61i. It was working alright on walking and drive mode.
Have I done it correctly or is it due to the cabin insulation????

a real, real, real STUPID thing open up a cell phone when in a flight.
you think you’re cool? please…
things like this will cause you some real problems one of this day.
stop to joke and use your brain.
(i’m an engineer working on aircraft parts maintenance; my brother is a pilot. i’m not kidding)
p.s. in a flight, after landing, i see brakes go offline just because one stupid man switch on his mobile too early.
p.s.2 see this: http://www.repubblica.it/2008/01/sezioni/esteri/londra-aereo/cause-incidente/cause-incidente.html

I have to agree with damiano!
I’m a flight attendant and I have had a lot of complaints from captains about passengers using their phone in the airplane. It’s not only interfering with the onboard cockpit equipment, it’s also creates a very annoying sound in the pilots headset. As if you’re listening to your old walkman and your cellphone starts ringing. You get this buzzing sound from a cellphone searching a network…
So please people, be very careful if you want to use your cellphone in an airplane!
