Hi,

I noticed an earlier message by Vinod (about 5 back) saying that his E65 powers off when you close it. I was (and possibly am still) having that problem. The symptom was that you would slide open the phone to type something, then slide close and the phone would power off instantly! Almost as if the act of sliding the phone closed pulled the plug on the power. I spoke to 3's no-help helpline and they suggested reformatting my microSD card (2GB) - I don't think that helped, but maybe it's too early to say.

Can I just ask you gurus a quick question? Why does the Nokia updater not show an available update for my phone (my E65 is at 1.0633.18.02)? I mean if there is an update to fix problems on the phone, why doesn't Nokia make it widely available? It sounds like some people have bricked their phones by changing the product code stored on the firmware - which is ridiculous. Can someone please:

1) say if it's worth updating to a newer firmware (there isn't a consistent message in the mails I've read)
2) provide a step by step (idiot's guide) to flashing the firmware (with details of how to change the product code without bricking)

Hope a guru can help!

Cheers, Jon

My E65 has Firmware 1.0633.18.01 installed and the "Nokia Software Updater" tells me that there are currently no software updates available.

The E65 is a very frustrating device. The WLAN is practically useless since you cannot connect to VPNs. The preinstalled VPN-client is disfunctional and since you are unable to define proxies for the browser or the mailclient other VPN-clients (like putty) cannot be used either. If you intend to use university or other institutional WLANs you can forget about the E65. It is a crappy device and I would not recommend it to anyone.

In my quest to find where to buy one I came across a nokia e65 gmrs. I have tried to find out more about this version but not have been able to find something on the web.
NO WAY TO SET A TIMED PROFILE?
My E65 is new and came with the new firmware. Can't comment on the changes, however I notice that one of the most basic features is missing that was on the older phones. There is no way to set a timed profile. This makes the phone useless from a business perspective because if I set it to silent I would like it to start making sounds again after my meeting.
I am extremely disappointed by the E65, the software looks like Nokia but feels like it was really designed by microsoft, all flash but basic features are gone/missing or poorly thought out.

Hi, so is there any way to revert back to the original Nokia e65 firmware. Use the phone with 3 here in Australia. Eversince I upgraded to the newest firmware, I could hardly send emails. These get deferred all the time. And that's one of the reasons I purchased this phone ... to be able to send and receive emails.

Anyway feedback would be much appreciated.
