Mobile Email Poll

Volker over at Vowe.net has an interesting poll about mobile email and the different ways to access mobile email. Being a big fan of Mail For Exchange and RoadSsync, both implementations of Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync protocol I was expecting more people using it. Anyways, head over to Volker's poll.

Speaking about RoadSync - Dataviz is having a 40% year end sale of RoadSync. The price for one license is $29.99 until the end of the year.

More about RoadSync over here.

Did not expect such a low number of activesync users!

    Ed,

Any chance you may update your comparison between M4E and RoadSync? Aside from folder access (do they have to be sub-folders of the inbox, like Intellisync?), any compelling feature differences between RoadSync and the current M4E client? The GAL is there now, meeting responses are there now as well.

To my eye, it looks like text zooming, flags and folders are the only gaps at this point.. To me, those are gaps I could live with..

Jason, the good part of M4E is, in the corporate addr book, you can even check the properties of the contact. Roadsync does not let you do. I think M4E has started getting in features that RoadSync does not have instead of merely following !!

My company is still using Exchange 2003 so I don’t take advantage in using server side search or subfolders so MFE is perfect for me.

And I find quite annoying that Roadsync keeps showing up in the tasklist when I hold the applications button.

    Hi Jason,
The main difference to my knowledge is that RoadSync supports a number of Microsoft Exchange 2007 features which Mail for Exchange does not support. These features are as you mentioned, email flags, server mailbox search, sharepoint file retrieval etc. All these features requires that your company is using Exchange 2007.
If you are looking for the most features then RoadSync is a great solution. If budget is tight and you can live without some of these features then stick with MfE. Just my two cents’
    Cheers

Great points all.. The Exchange 2007 stuff doesn’t do anything for me, since we’re still on Exchange 2003… The other stuff, while neato, again, doesn’t justify the expense, in my mind, for me at least..

Ed - Hope all is well in the land of ES..

Activesync is a proprietary Microsoft crap, nice that more people use standard IMAP access.

    Hi all,

I am trying to sync my corporate mailbox on N95. It works fine with Roadsync whereas M4E is unable to connect. It says Unable to connect and keeps retrying. I have checked all the settings tried the latest version of M4E i.e. 2.03 still the same problem. Any suggestions?
