Mail for Exchange - 2.5.5
Mail for Exchange, Nokia’s Exchange ActiveSync based email solution, has yet again been updated. The new release, Mail for Exchange 2.5.5, adds supports for one new device; Nokia N96 as well as fixes one issue related to Swedish language support:
If you tried to run Mail for Exchange 2.5.0 or 2.5.3 on a phone using the Swedish language the application was crashing. This language error has been corrected in Mail for Exchange 2.5.5. All Swedes rejoice.
Thanks for KJ for spotting this.

@Giorgos - Why do you need a VPN? With exchange 2003 SP2 activesync push works over external SSL
The release notes are interesting for this, I’d noticed my MFE performance degrading over time mostly due to having a large amount of mails in the inbox, and Nokia seem to have addressed this:
-Many Emails: Performance of the device may be affected if there are 500 or more emails in the Mail for Exchange Inbox. Avoid this by using the “Sync messages back” setting in the Mail for Exchange profile Email tab. The shortest setting is 1 day.
Great to see Nokia pushing this given Apple are now supporting exchange properly on the iPhone. I’d even looked at roadsync to support subfolders but their bloaty, unstable piece of rubbish didn’t work again as usual (with a known working setup)
I’d still like to see a configurable option to not automatically send read receipts. Sometimes I check email late at night swiftly, but this doesn’t mean I’m actually taking it - I don’t *always* want to send read receipts.
It seems you can also activate out of office from the phone is using exchange 2007 which is another nice little addition

Chris thanks for your reply, however in order to connect to my webmail VPN needs to be set first, and this option does not work from my E65. If u have any tutorial, please inform me!

Does anyone have problems trying to send email using Mail for Exchange? Its very inconsistent on my phone where sometimes it works and sends quickly, other times it will queue forever. And then if you ‘Save as Draft’ it deletes the text I just wrote! Anyone else have these frustrations sending email? I have no problems receiving though.

Strange thing - I can not install V 2.5.5. My Nokia E90 stopps the installation process and says “Aktualisierungsfehler” which means something like “updating error”. Do you have any idea what I can do?
And a second problem: is there any way around the “all day event” problem (mail for exchange messes up these events)?

And still no folder support…
(Sent using my trial blackberry which does — therefore E61i collecting dust in the drawer…)

Yes, Jeff, I see the same problem using Mail for Exchange. Sometimes mail is sent quickly. Sometimes it can be nudged by going into the Outbox and hitting “Send” again, maybe a couple of times. Sometimes the mail just won’t go.

I have an E60 and have installed MFE2.5.5. My IT manager has tried to set up a profile this morning to link to our Exchange 2007 server. This not only failed to connect but in doing so deleted my existing personal email mailbox settings.
If MFE is installed does it stop other emails accounts from being used? If so, why?
