Nokia E61 - Free WorldMate!
One of my absolute favorite mobile applications is Mobimate's WorldMate. It's the second application I install on any device after I set up a decent email application.
I have relied on WorldMate for years now. It's indespensible tool for anyone working and staying in contact with people in multiple time zones and cities. It's a convenient tool to look up the time and even the weather anywhere in the world. The application is rightfully referred to as "The Swiss Army Knife of Travel".
The only thing I have missed as I gave up using the Treo was a good implementation of WorldMate. To my delight I found that there is a free version of MobiMate for the Nokia E61.
I haven't tried it on any other of the Nokia E-series devices but I think it should also work on the Nokia E70 and the Nokia E60 as well.
However, it works great on my Nokia E61! There are some features missing but this version is absolutely free and the critical features are all implemented - World Clocks, Weather Forecasts and Currency Converter. The layout is also very intuitive and a breeze to use. So for those of you with an Nokia E61 you can download a fully functioning version of WorldMate from here.

The WorldMate on Pocket PC is better than nokia coz it has satellite preview. But, its ok coz its free, you dont have to pay for a single cent..

there is a new update to worldmate and can be downloaded free of charge @ wap.shapeservices.com. you must use the services browser for this link.
the new version incorporates flight information status which i do find very useful from time to time for most of the major airlines.

I have just installed it. BUT… I don’t seem to be able to input any numbers into the currency converter. Everything else seems to work fine. Please help. Thanks!

I don’t know if this helps Kenneth, but on my e61 (only just got it) i have to hold the bottom left (blue) key and then it lets me input numbers.
Sorry if this seems silly, but thats how it works on mine..

Hello All
I love Worldmate too, and my new E61 comes with a free 3 year subscription, however, when submitting my details - it searches for their server (I assume), starts to download, but then comes up with “Important message - Update failed. General Error”, does this everytime. I dont know if its Worldmate or the phone. Any ideas? Thanks.

Mine does the same, comes up important message - update failed. general error. Not sure if its the phone, but considering someone else has experienced it maybe its the server?

I downloaded the 3 year version of worldmate and for some reason it does not have the flight schedule. That’s the most important feature to me. If somebody has a link to it please post it.

To: Admin,
Please help me find decent email application you mention for my new E61. I live in Canada & my E61 does not data plan with Rogers wireless directly. Can still set up and use the decent email application you mention and still & and receive email using my own access point at my office or home which is still connected to Rogers wireless. Thank you.

HI Megatravel,
You can still use the WiFi function to retrieve email and access other features/functions that relies on data.
Just set the application to access a WiFi network instead of using data from your carrier. A good application for email, if you don’t like the built in application, is profimail.
Cheers

Thanks very much, ed. What’s special about profimail and how do I put that to my E61? More power to your blog. You benefit mankind and beyond. The satisfactions and “on always” motivations of your fans around the globe to love their E-series are priceless - keep on going. You can count on my support.
