If you have a 2 server setup - front-end OWA/OMA server connecting to a backend mailbox server - both need to be the same version of Exchange. A 2003 OWA server connecting to a 2000 mailbox server will casue the ssl error to happen on your phone. I discovered this error in the event viewer app log on the owa server. I suggest you check this log to see if you are having the same issue. We still have some mailboxes on a 2000 server but are moving them to a new 2003 one which causes this error to disappear.
