My Carrier Doesn’t Like Me…
I don't know that for a fact but I'm pretty sure. I was testing some cool applications on my Nokia E61 and got a bit carried away. Before I knew it I had racked up quite a lot of data traffic. How I like unlimited data plans…
Before you ask - I didn't use the Nokia E61 as a modem.

I haven’t sent as much data as you do but received almost the same

92Mb total, thats 1840 in swedish crowns (or 1Mb * 20 / 7,44 = 247 USD) My carrier sucks at this part.

I almost felt bad but then I started to think about the $$$ I’ve spent over the years. This time I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth.

hmm that isn’t very high actually.
I think 1gb will be high.

I’ve had the phone for almost 3 weeks now. I’ve used in total 87 MBs of data downstream. Good thing for MediaMax.

Just Hit 5 GB (use it as a modem) without a unlimited 3G Plan this goes for 30′000 EUR (at 6€/MB), btw the E61 gets rather warm (although it doesn’t beat my Macbook)
July 22nd, 2006 at 2:40 am
92 MB cost 850 EUR with T-Mobile (0.09 EUR / 10KB) unless you have a data contract.

You are welcome if you want to visit us in France
We have now unlimited data offers… You cannot imagine how great it is to be able to use your phone without thinking that you will have a huge invoice at the end !
It changed my life
Anyway, I’m sure it’s a question of time, all over the world. I was in Asia few months ago. They have unlimited access too.

In Holland we can pay a fixed price per month for unlimited internet access (mail and webbrowsing), but the datathroughput IS limited!
It is still a great offer and I use it every day on my Nokia E61.
To speak with the words of Pierre-Olivier: It changed my life

Hi,
Yes, in here in Malaysia, we have unlimited data plans @ approx. USD 35.62 per month.
On a side note, I’m still doing research on the E61 to see if it can do what I require of it. Does anyone know how you can get the built-in browser to access a site which requires https certificates?
Cheers,
Andrew

Well I’m stuck with Vodafone uk £2.50 per megabyte! They have unlimited data but you need to get 3G card and a seperate sim (apparently they use different connection for data only). Sux pretty hard since I’m using macbook pro without a PCMCIA slot!

You all are funny. I have used about 527.69 mb. And have sent 46.28mb. 49mb is nothin. Get with it guys. Unlimited data plans are the best. (all without a modem). Internet radio· podcast, web feed, checking this fine blog and others data on the go is awsome. I am sure my carrier loves me.

I agree that this is a very little amount of data. Automatic email checking every thirty minutes, reading Engadget among other sites throughout the day, and also streaming audio can make for quite a usage tally on my MEdiaNet Unlimited.
Question: What theme is that on the screenshot? Looks kind of like Aqua but with a new wallpaper and bottom bar. Please post about it, thanks
July 23rd, 2006 at 11:03 am
Nevermind; didn’t see the theme entry like, five down from this one.
July 23rd, 2006 at 11:04 am
Hi Carlos,
It’s Blue Smile by Roman Keller. You can find more information about the themes I use here:

Carlos,
I currently a Cingular customer as well and my e61 is in the mail. Is the mediaNet unlimited plan the best way to go as far as data? I was concerned that I’d have to get a PDA data plan.
Any other Cingular customers have input?
July 23rd, 2006 at 6:33 pm
It’s actually Blue Dream, also by Keller. ; )

I also use Cingular. I have a MediaNet 5mb plan which I supplement by using WiFi at home and local hot spots. So far so good but am considering adding the PDA Unlimited. It all depends on your planned usage and your needs. I am a business professional, “push” email is not a must and I try to be judicious with my web surfing. I do my reading during lunch brake at one of the hot spots so this cuts down drastically on my MediaNet usage.
Different strokes for different folks. = )

Thanks for the response metaserph. What is the difference between the PDA Unlimited and the MediaNet Unlimited?

In India we get a 100MB per month from Orange for Rs. 500 or approx. $10. From airtel we get 1gb per month for the same cost, so am ot getting killed yet, but if we dont get some unlimited plans soon, i definitely will.

I have Pocket Internet Total from T-mobile and just hit 560 MB in only 2 week times, by listening internet radio and using the podcast. Btw podcast is very cool application, but does anyone know a good way to play the podcast *.m4v files? Because the internal player couldn’t play this kind of files. And i don’t want to copy them back everytime to my PC to change them into right format.

Airtel in India’s got a new unlimited data plan for Rs. 140 per week. Good luck getting high speeds though. I’m in Bangalore and do manage 6-8 Kb per sec but not more than that most of the time.

Do I need a media net plan if I am just going to be online using my router with my e61?
July 31st, 2006 at 6:18 pm
Hi Jason,
I am not quite sure if I understand your question. If you only plan to use the Wifi connection you don’t need a regular cellular data plan by your carrier. However, you might need to get some kind of Wifi /Hotspot plan if you want to use the device outside your normal Wifi coverage.
Even so, I would encourage you to get some kind of data plan from your carrier - this device is so capable so without a data plan you are missing out on many goood feature.
Cheers

Thanks, admin. made a lot of sense.
August 4th, 2006 at 7:29 am
what’s the best data plan out there?
August 4th, 2006 at 9:58 am
Hi Jason,
It all depends on your carrier. I use Cingular so I went with something called “MEdiaNet” unlimited (I think). If I remember correctly it is $19? per month for UNLIMITED data. There are cheaper plans if you don’t plan to use that much data. Also, T-mobile in the US often has pretty good plans.
Cheers!

My E61 is a “second” cell - mainly for backup and wifi. Thus, my choice of a
“cell plan” was unique. What filled the bill perfectly is T-Mobile’s Pay as you
> Go plan. You can give them less - but the best deal is for $100 you get over 1000 minutes that last a full YEAR. No bills - nothing “munches” at your minutes. It’s a great plan for low use.

I posted a comment earlier about a player that is able to play avi’s. Had no luck there so found a converter. I have not tried it yet but seems worth a try.

I have cingular media works unlimited grandfathered wich comes with unlimited data and text. Worked there got it 3 days before expired. Well I read their T&C about data usage where they can terminate for numurous reasons wich makes me worry about high usage. I’m about 200 MB a month. Do people really sift accounts.
