S60SpotOn for Nokia E61
There is nothing wrong with a good one trick pony. S60SpotOn does one thing and it does it well. The application will turn your Nokia E61 into a flash light. It is a free application that will disable the time out function for the backlight screen.
By activating S60SpotOn your device the backlight screen will stay on until you turn off the backlight screen function using S60SpotOn.
You might wonder why you ever would need this but I once used a device as a flash light to find my keys in a dark movie theater. I constantly had to press a key to activate the backlight screen. If I had an application like S60SpotOn on my device I wouldn't have had to continually press a key to keep the light on.

I used my old 8310 as flash light sometimes. No program needed there
still the best phone Nokia ever made.

To echo previous comments - Fantastic site. It has certainly enriched my experience with my phone.
Enjoying the phone but one thing I would love to see happen is a spell check application that can run in the background.

Not sure how you guys are doing with cases for your E-61. The one that came with mine was pretty horrid. I found out the T-Mobile MDA case fits this phone perfectly. Waiting for Vaja to release something good.

Sorry for the multiple comments:
But I wanted to check if anyone else was experiencing this bug. The mail key which you can map to one your e-mail accounts works fine but then loses its mapping. When you press it nothing happens till you restart the device. It usually happens after you receive an sms or email and the “Show Messsage” or something similar to that pops you and you click OK.
Irritating.

I installed this so that I could use my E70 as a nightstand digital clock when travelling. But I’m a bit concerned about leaving the backlight at full intensity for something like 8 hours straight. Anyone know if this is a bad idea?

Hmm, nothing I would do. I don’t know this for a fact but I would assume that the backlight has a limited lifespan and using it so much might shorten the lifespan.
But then again, I am a guy who wears both belts and suspenders…
