Gone Fishin’ - Back August 28th

After three months, 62 posts, 1,057 comments and 257 deleted spam comments it's time for some vacation with the family.

During my absence I have asked my friend and colleague Daniel over at e60blog to post here from time to time. However, from now until August 28th there will be fewer posts here.

When I get back from vacation you can expect posts about cases and other third party accessories for the Nokia E61, GPS solutions and of course more "must have software" posts.  On the recommendation of many readers I will also set up a forum for E-Series. Many have written to me asking for a forum. By setting up the forum it will be easier to track the progression of certain topics that now "live" in the various blog entries. Another goal is also to make it easier to keep the comments more on topic.

To do in Europe:
1. Enjoy quality time with the family
2. See the sights
3. Visit every Nokia service center until I manage to get the new firmware ;-)
4. See if I can pick up any E-Series related gadget paraphernalia. Perhaps even a Nokia E60 or a Nokia E50 :)

See you all August 28th!

I was reading your blog almost every post, you did a great job around E-Series Nokia Smartphone. Nice themes section and good software choice.

Btw have you heard about SoonR service? I wrote a quick review on my blog about it.

Once again thx for usefull information and have a good vacation!

I am in Europe until November so let me know if you find out about new firmware. I’ve already upgraded an older Nokia phone to newer firmware but I want to be sure to get the newest stuff for my Vodafone E61 before leaving. Also, have you heard anything about unlocking through Vodafone or third party?

    All,
Thanks for your kind words. This time the destination is the UK and France. Thanks for looking after the place Daniel. Let’s have that cup of coffee here in SF when you come for a visit :-)

Enjoy your holidays! urrr…please remove your original screenprotection…looks so silly…but hey that’s just me ;-)

  11. JREAU Says:

I’m glad to see I’m not the only dork that kept the original screen protector :). I only removed mine a couple weeks ago after being laughed at by chics in Europe!

Hi. Been reading your site since I bought my Nokia e61 here in Phils. Looking for tips to maximize the smartphone. So far so good, but I’d like to know if you know of any application within e61 that can do a search through information. For example, if you’re looking for a to-do list item “Grocery” it will search through contacts, calendar, mail etc. just like a palm device?

As far as I’m concerned, I LOVE MY E61.. haha.. and it’s been with me 24×7 for the last two weeks. Wifi, YM is working but Internet Calls via WIFI, GPRS and VPN/Remote desktop I’ve not found info on how to make them work and I do hope to find them soon.

Thank you for the great blog and enjoy your month long vacation.

    furious.styles

  16. Pasha Says:

Furious, the MiniSD slot is located under the back cover you need to remove it to Change the card.

    All,
Thanks for your kind words. Currently enjoying my vacation in London. Ahhh, the beer :-)

    Thefonedoc,
You are not alone, we’re a silent majority out there keeping the original screen protector ON ;-)

  18. BaRTiMuS Says:

Just so you guys know, you can remove that triangle in the corner of the screen protector. Just gently lift the corner of it off and it peels right off the underside. Then just drop the corner back down and no one will know the difference!

I had it like that for about 2 weeks then the protector got scratched, its just a cover it was never meant to be used as a screen protector. So I switched it for a Martin Fields protector and the difference is big.. much more durable.

  19. stone Says:

BaRTiMuS that worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip. I was worried that it would ruin it but it didn’t… :D

  20. daniel sussex Says:

wicked tip, it was getting annoying not being able to see the corner.
