Two Tone Nokia E61

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

I can't get enough of Nokia E61 mods! I haven't gotten around to try it myself yet so I take great pleasure in looking at what other Nokia E61 owners have created.

Machani from British Columbia sent me an email with these pictures of a nice two tone Nokia E61. Machani writes:

I was particularly interested in modding my E61, without using paint. So I ordered a blue E61 housing kit from eBay (seller in Singapore). The housing I received was much darker in colour than the one pictured in eBay. In fact the blue housing is deep indigo blue.

I followed the excellent instructions here and was able to install the new housing without a problem. I did make a change, however, to the standard housing mod. Since I wanted to keep the original Nokia logo in the front and back, I used the original silver-grey front and back top covers with the new blue front and back housing.

Note: the front top cover with the Nokia logo can be separated from the front face plate by gently prying it open. There is a backing double sided tape thatholds the front top cover in place, but it can be separated quite easily.

When attaching the ORIGINAL front top cover to the NEW front housing, I recommend using some double-sided tape to keep the front top cover firmly in place on the front housing.

Thanks for sharing Machani!

Snake Modded Nokia E61

Friday, October 6th, 2006

I thought I'd seen it all after Param sent me the photos of his Voodoo Nokia E61. That was until I received some images of this modded Nokia E61. This work of art takes the previously posted Snake Theme to new levels! Talk about a theme and a modded Nokia going well together!

Thanks Pierre!!!

Voodoo - Nokia E61

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Voodoo PC is known for their high-end, high-performance, stunningly beautiful PC.

Param, who has the great fortune of working there, used the same colours used for their unique PC enclosures to create a one of a kind Red Nokia E61.

Thanks Param!

Graphic Grey Nokia E61

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

In the world of modding, doing the paint job yourself, is a notch above buying prepainted parts. Andres took the Nokia E61 modding to new levels and did the paint job himself.

Andres writes "I just finished my new E61 case mod. I used some Honda (Accura in theUS) S25 "graphic grey" which can be seen on S2000 roadster cars :). This is a dark grey with a metallic look. You don't see the metallic effect on my pictures to well, but in natural light it really looks great. Of course I had to cover the buttons and the message led with some duct tape in order not to paint them over. I'm really satisfied with the new look. It's different than blackberrys which have a flat black and it still has some shiny effect when it's put into sunlight."

Thanks for sharing the pictures Andres. Your Graphic Grey E61 looks *great*!

Feel inspired? ;-) If you plan to, or have already modded your Nokia E61 please share your pictures with us.

Let The Modding Begin - Black Nokia E61

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

I knew it would just be a matter of time before we got to see some seriously pimped Nokia E61. I am a big fan of modding and has been looking forward to seeing some differently colored Nokia E61.

Let it be known that I throw down my glove. Where are the pictures of the steel blue Nokia E61, or perhaps the red Nokia E61 or something else. Send me your pictures please!

A big thank you goes out to Bruce for sharing this with us - you are my new hero~!
