Added Support for Eseries Devices in Nokia Media Transfer

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Several readers have written to tell me that Nokia Media Transfer, which we wrote about here, now supports Nokia E65, Nokia E61i and Nokia E90.

I haven't tried this myself yet but I take your word for it :-) I'm really glad that Nokia has added support for Eseries to this great Mac media transfer utility!

Nokia Media Transfer Supports Nokia E70

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Nokia Media Transfer now works with Nokia E70 without any hacks!

Nokia Media Transfer, which enables you to transfer pictures, videos, podcasts, music, and files between your Nokia mobile device and your Mac, was released two weeks ago but it only supported Nseries devices.

However, Nokia has quietly introduced support for Nokia E70. (Thank you Nokia!) The device is not yet listed as one of the supported devices but there is a profile available for the Nokia E70.

Nokia Media Transfer

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

Tommi writes that Nokia has started to love Mac. Sure, with release of the Nokia Media Transfer application which enables you to transfer pictures, videos, podcasts, music, and files between your Nokia mobile device and your Mac, you would think so but…

Sadly though, this is currently only for the Nseries devices….

Nokia Media Transfer supports file transfer of photos and video from iPhoto to the device and music, podcasts and videos in iTunes to your Nseries device - exactly what I would want for my Nokia E61i and for my future Nokia E90…

Nokia & iSync

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

It's not often you feel the Nokia - Apple love.

As us Apple users know, Nokia support for Mac OSX is… how should I put this… "not as prioritized as for Windows" ;-)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Nokia now offers iSync plugins for a all Eseries devices :-) More information here.

Thanks to everyone who emailed me about this!

Apple Wireless Keyboard + Nokia E61 = True

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

As an update to the previous post about various wireless Bluetooth keyboards working with the Nokia E61 I can now report that Apple’s wireless keyboard works great with the E-Series devices.

Shaun was kind enough to send me this photo and video clip of his Nokia E60 and Apple’s wireless keyboard working together in perfect harmony. (more…)

Something for the Apple and Nokia E61 lover. 11 Mac Pros, 44 terabytes and one Nokia E61.

Question: So what is this set-up (sans the Nokia E61) used for?

Thanks Aaron!

Vanity Dialing On The Nokia E62

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

The Nokia E62 is the first carrrier branded device I have bought for a long time. One of the benefits of buying a carrier branded device is of course the support you get. Something you are not easily entitled to when you buy an unbranded, often grey imported phone. Another benefit is that the device is localized.

I have missed "Vanity Dialling"  (1-800-Go-ACME) on the Nokia E61 so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that Vanity Dialling is a feature implemented on the Nokia E62. Just press the "Char" key and the letters.

Sorry - doesn't work on the Nokia E61

New Nokia E61 Icon for iSync

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

A reader of E-Series - Michael F, was kind enough to create a new Nokia E61 icon for iSync. The icon is available here. To change the icon you are currently using just go to Library > PhonePlugins > Contents > Resources and open the MetaClasses.plist file.  Using  an HTML editor, change the string for Nokia E61 in the MetaClass.plist file to match the name of the name of the Nokia E61 icon tiff file you put in the folder. In this case the name of the icon is "E61.tiff"

If you have any problems, drop me a line and I'll email you the details.

Thanks Michael!

iSync and the Nokia E61

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Last night I updated my Powerbook to Mac OS 10.4.7 and that broke my previously installed plugin that let me sync my Mac with the Nokia E61. This morning I was met with the following error message telling me that the plug-in for the Nokia E61 was missing.

Luckily there is already a fix available that worked fine for me. This time MUCH gratitude and appreciation goes out to Tom over at Mactomster who has created a new plugin that works great. This plug-in will let you sync your Mac using iSync with all E-Series devices. Once again, thanks Tom!

Update: Here is a rough translation of Mactomster's Readme file in German:

1. Quit iSync
2. Move the file “mactomster.phoneplugin”(orange) on to the alias “file drauf pull here!” (red)
3. Start iSync
4. Pair the phone with your Mac using Bluetooth.

How do you Sync Nokia E61 With Your Mac - Nokia E61 Plugin for iSync

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I have two computers, one Mac and one PC. Due to Nokia's poor Apple support and Apple's lack of iSync plugins I haven't been able to syncronize my Nokia E61 with my Mac.

I recently discovered Nova Media's iSync plugins and was about to spend the 10 Euros for their plugin when I came across Eko Juniarto's free iSync plugin. Eko has put together a plugin that is easy to install, works great and is free to boot - thank you Eko!

Update: If you are using Mac OS 10.4.7 this might not be working any more. Try this to sync your E61 with your Mac.
