I receive a fair amount of questions with regards to all Eseries devices. The second most commonly asked question is “How do I sort or search my contacts by company name?” Since the built in address book doesn’t let me do that I have invested in a great contact application from Alon Software. Their Alon Contact Guide For S60 3rd Edition is a Godsend!

The December holidays are about family and getting together. Thanks to a friend of mine I managed to briefly collect all Eseries devices for a gratuitous photo shoot. Here they all are - Nokia E50, E60, E61, E62 and the E70.

There is no secret that I am a big fan of Salling Clicker. I’ve written about the existing java version as well as the beta version of the upcoming Symbian version.The closed beta of the next version of Salling Clicker reached a new level with the third (closed) beta release of the software.

There are probably few Skype users, or not, who hasn’t noticed all the coverage Hutchinson’s 3 group has been getting in regards to their 3 X-Series with unlimited Skype on the Nokia N73 and other devices. Since the Nokia N73 is a S60 3rd edition there is a good chance that this service will also run on other devices on the same network - and it does. Here are the pictures of Skype running on Nokia E61.

Thanks to everyone who wrote to tell me that the new firmware for the Nokia E61, V3.0633.09.04, is available through Nokia Software Updater. While the upgrade couldn’t have gone smoother for me, some people have reported some initial issues so before you upgrade take a second to think this through before you upgrade. Perhaps it’s better to wait a few days.

Dan Schwartz is a talented designer who has created a number of great looking Mac OS X themes for S40 devices. I have long wished that Dan would start creating S60 3rd edition themes. Christmas came early this year. Dan just released his first beta theme for S60 3rd edition.

For the second time in less than three months it was time to pay a visit to my local Cingular store. This time it was my wife who was looking for an upgrade from her Treo 650. Despite my best efforts to convince her to go with the Nokia E62 she decided to pick up a Treo 680.

I'm normally not discourage when I read that a certain software doesn't support the Eseries devices. If the application is for a S60 3rd edition device I go ahead and try it anyway. What's the worst that could happen - the application doesn't run? (more…)

I discovered two new, good blogs with a broad focus on S60 and the Nokia Eseries devices this week. Interestingly enough, one blog is from Japan while the other is from Sweden. One is in English and the other is in Japanese but both are well worth reading (or at least looking at the pictures and screen shots in case your Japanese is a bit rusty).
