So Much To Read - Nokia E61i Shrine

Monday, April 30th, 2007

It is always nice to see new blogs dedicated to the Eseries devices, coming to life.

The latest addition to my list of daily essentials is a bog solely dedicated to the Nokia E61i - aptly titled; "Nokia E61i - The wonder phone".

Welcome to the Nokia blogosphere Ali! Keep up the great work.

Nokia E61i Now Available

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Limited quantities of the Nokia E61i has been available in select channels for a few weeks now. This morning I received official notification from Nokia EMEA that the Nokia E61i is now available.

I assume that this means that production is ramping up and that it should be easier to get your hands on the E61i without bending yourself backwards, or sacrificing your firstborn. I am very, very, very tempted to upgrade my Nokia E61.

We'll see :-)

Ouch, Nokia E61i Dismembered!

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

*Warning the following images are not for the faint of heart*

I knew it was a matter of time before the curiosity got the better of a very brave Nokia E61i owner.

C'mon who doesn't want to see the innards of a Nokia E61i.

Sabesh was the brave and curious Nokia E61i owner who sent me these amazing photos of a gutted device.

I normally try to keep the focus on this blog on strictly Eseries and related software and accessories.

But when someone is kind enough to offer me some nice Nokia N800 unboxing photos I just can't turn it down :-)

FON WiFi Connection Manager for Nokia Eseries

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

FON is a funky Spanish company with a cool idea - Share your WiFi broadband access at home/work and enjoy WiFi all over the world.

The thinking goes something like this… "why should you pay for Internet access on the go when you have already paid for it at home? Exactly, you shouldn’t." FON is hard at work creating a global community of people who get more out of their connection through sharing.

Earlier this week FON announced a partnership with Time Warner Cable which allows Time Warner Cable broadband subscribers to become FON community members and create FON access points via their home or business broadband connection.

Also announced is a FON WiFi Connection Manager for Symbian S60 3rd edition devices such as the Eseries.

Nokia E61 & Wireless Headphones

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Since I use my Nokia E61 as my iPod Nano replacement I decided it was time to get some great headphones.

I really liked my previous set-up but I wanted to go wireless. Logitech's FreePulse Wireless headphones will set me free. No more cables for me :-)

More Nokia E61i Photos

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

That Nokia devices attract large numbers of *very* loyal users is no big surprise.

Judging by the stream of positive comments from early adopters, the Nokia E61i seems to quickly be gathering a growing, loyal, fan base as well.

I came across these beautiful photos of the Nokia E61i on Flickr from someone with the great Flickr id  "e61isuperfan" :-)

Nokia E61i Pr0n

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

I just can't get enough of the Nokia E61i. However, until I get my hands on one this great video overview will have to do.

Is it just me or does the Nokia e61i seem much faster than the E61?

Thanks GL.

Boxwave Cases For Nokia E61 & Nokia E62

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Over the past few weeks I've been trying out two great cases for the Nokia E61/Nokia E62. One leather case/belt clip and one ultra-thin, silicone case.

Both from one of my favourite, online sellers of accessories for mobile devices - Boxwave.

Friday Themes - Time To Praise P@sco

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

This week's themes are all from one very talented designer - P@sco.

I have previously featured P@sco's creations but that was quite some time ago and only one theme. It's time to dedicate this week's theme post to P@sco alone!

Hats off to you P@sco.

Nokia E65 Case

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

I'm picky about cases I use for my Eseries devices…

It has to be a really good case before I enclose the device in any protective casing of any kind.

Up until now I haven't found a case for the Nokia E65 that I liked. That changed when Roger sent me some photos of a case he uses for the Nokia E65.

Nokia Beta Labs

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Nokia has quietly open the doors to its Nokia Beta Labs.

Nokia Beta Labs is a site for early testing of Nokia applications that are not yet in wide distribution.

I recommend bookmarking the URL to the site - http://www.nokia.com/betalabs as I expect many cool, innovative and cutting edge applications to first appear on the Beta Labs site.

The current set of applications on Nokia Beta Labs include a few applications previously covered on e-series.org: Mobile Codes, Wellness Diary, Sports Tracker and Widsets.

Head over to the Nokia Beta Labs - try out some application and leave feedback.

Friday Themes - It’s Been A While

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

It's finally Friday and time for some themes for your Eseries devices. This week I have tried to find a a group of themes that all are nice and clean (think - less is more) but also a few themes with edited icons (a request from previous theme post).

Hopefully there is something for everyone.

I couldn't find the name of the creator of the following versions of the Nokia "Dots" theme but if anyone knows please tell me so I can give credit to the talented theme designer. Thanks to Richard for letting me know that the below Dots themes are official Nokia variants of the original Dots theme.

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

It's not often you feel the Nokia - Apple love.

As us Apple users know, Nokia support for Mac OSX is… how should I put this… "not as prioritized as for Windows" ;-)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Nokia now offers iSync plugins for a all Eseries devices :-) More information here.

Thanks to everyone who emailed me about this!

www.s60.com

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

High up my list of sites I visit on regular basis is s60.com. However, I always go directly to the blogs of S60 located at blogs.s60.com to read what interesting thoughts Tommi, Phil, Jouni and the rest of the crew might have.

I can't remember when I last visited the main landing page www.s60.com. It was probably months ago. So when I stopped by the other day I noticed that it had all been updated (as I said, probably months ago…)

I really liked the new layout of the site and the animations on the front page.
