Nokia E65: Red AND Mocca

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Filed under: Don’t try this at home

My Nokia E65 Red housing which I mentioned in an earlier post arrived. Thinking that the transformation would be as easy as when I tore apart my Nokia E61 and changed the original casing to a blue third party casing, I wasted no time and started to dismantle the Nokia E65.

The first two steps are pretty easy. Step one is to remove and replace the battery cover (duh~!).

Whoa - Where Did The Week Go? Friday Themes

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Whoa - don’t know what happen to this week. All of a sudden it’s Friday and time for some good themes for your Eseries devices.

First up is Matze over at e61effect.com. He has “remixed” an existing theme and come up with a theme that literally screams “Weekend” and “Party” in the same breath. I love it and I need it after a hectic week.

Trance Energy Landscape by Matze

I’ve featured “Cute Orange” before but at the time the theme wasn’t optimized for the Nokia E61(i). Roman created a new version, optimized version for the E61(i) - thanks Roman!

Let The Modding Begin - Black Nokia E61i

Monday, May 7th, 2007

The Nokia E61i has just been available for a short few weeks and already we have the first example of a modded Nokia E61i.

This beautiful device was “Gmasked” (the company that wraps and decorate your device in a few microns thick plastic film) to create an all black Nokia E61i.

Thanks for the great photos Benny!

Have you recently modded your Eseries device? Share the photos with us.

Welcome To The Family - Nokia E61i

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I did it!

After holding out for almost a month, while reading all the positive comments on these post, I caved in and bought the Nokia E61i.

Am I ever glad I took the leap!

I've had the device for less than a day so while it's too early to post any first impressions, instead I will share a list of the first five applications I installed on my brand new device and why I choose to install them.

Improving Video Quality On Nokia E61

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Thinking about starting to watch videos on the Nokia E61 but don't much about the subject?

Do you already watch videos but are not satisfied with the quality?

I've got a great article on this topic to recommend.

The author tested specific parts of certain video clips that were prone to distortion, and graded each part on a scale from 1 to 10 for picture quality and smoothness of motion.

In all he tested well over 100 different optimization settings. Based on the result he created optimal SUPER settings available for download.

Read the article, I promise that you will learn a lot. Especially in regards to tweaking video quality.

Great article Nico~!

Nokia E65 Review

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Shaun McGill used to regularly write about the Nokia E61.

His Nokia E61 blog was one of my favourite E61 blogs. Unfortunately, Shaun had to re-prioritize his commitments and spend more time on his other blogs.

However, from time to time Shaun updates his old blog. A few days ago he posted a very insightful first look at the Nokia E65. Well worth reading.

I look forward to the next installment of his review of the Nokia E65.

Shaun, please continue updating your blog! :-)

Update: part two of Shaun's very thorough review is up.

Update: part three, the final thoughts of Shaun's E65 review is up.

RoadSync Rocks!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I've meant to take RoadSync (Dataviz implementation of ActiveSync - Microsoft Exchange based push email) for a spin since RoadSync 3.0 was released back in December.

RoadSync got an upgrade early April which prompted me to finally give it a try - I'm glad I did.

RoadSync sports an impressive feature set. Needless to say, the push email experience including automatic sync of addresses and calendar works great.

Nokia E70 - New Firmware Available

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

There is a new firmware available for Nokia E70.

The new firmware version is 3.0633.09.04. It installed beautifully on my Nokia E70.

Still not sure where the improvements are but I expect it's a bunch of bug fixes and possibly some VoIP and other enhancements.

Fire up Nokia Phone Software Updater and go and get it.

Thank you to everyone who wrote to tell me about this!!!

UPDATE: If you use BlackBerry Connect you might not want to upgrade yet as there is no compatible BBC client for the new firmware version. See more information in the comment section.
