I’ll go easy on the themes this week since we’ve already have two theme related post. This week we have two themes for you and your Eseries device.

Nokia E90 Number 212

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Tony, who attended the official VIP launch event of the Nokia E90 in Jakarta last week, sent me two photos of Nokia E90 number 212. Only a limited number of devices were available at the event and Tony bought device number 212.

Tony was offered one million rupiah, approximately US $110 just for his VIP invitation and the chance of being able to buy a Nokia E90. However, availability is ramping up.

Nokia E61i in the Air

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Two interesting video clips of Nokia E61i in the air has appeared.

The first one shows someone using TomTom with a Nokia E61i inside a plane - the GPS mapping software shows a speed of 862 km/h! Quite impressive.

The other video is by Adam Curry who used his Nokia E61i to capture a video clip while flying himself from the UK down to Cannes. It is part of Adam Curry Daily Source Code

Eseries Around The World

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

With the start of Summer (vacation) we kick off a new, re-occurring blog category called Eseries Around The World. This will combine three of my passions - gadgets, photography and travel / learning about the world.

Although I will not be traveling, you will. I invite you to share photos of your Eseries devices from where you live or where you travel.

It's simple. Just send us a photo of your Eseries device and include something in the photo to make give it a "local" look and feel.

This week we start in Helsinki, Finland, the homeland of Nokia - very appropriate ;-)

Click on the photos for a brief description of where the photos are from.

A big thank you to MJBR for sharing his photos!

If you have already sent me some photos a BIG THANK you. The photos will posted in future blog posts.

Would you like to contribute to Eseries Around The World?

Please send me some photos to ed<you know what goes here>e-series.org and tell me a bit of the photos.

Printing From Your Eseries Device

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Good advice is worth repeating… or in this case a good "how to" guide.

Most Eseries users probably don't know that it is quite easy to set up printing from your Nokia Eseries device.

The devices come loaded with the necessary settings to print to a number of HP printers. But even if you don't have an HP printer it is possible to print to almost any printer.

Kenneth wrote a great guide regarding how to print from Nokia E61. (Don't forget to check out the comment section as well).

There is also another great guide written by Moobekk about how to print from your Eseries device to a printer connected to a Windows system.

Psiloc Reflect Theme

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

OK. I don't plan to turn www.e-series.org into a strictly theme blog but it's not everyday one of my favourite application developer comes out with a great theme.

Psiloc has created a high quality theme called REFLECT. The theme, which is $4 and available from their website, sports some beautiful reflective details as well as Flash screen saver for devices supporting this - S60 3.1.

Nokia Themes

Monday, June 18th, 2007

OK, ok, ok, it's not Friday yet but you can never have too many themes. Especially when they are created by Nokia. Here is a great little tip on how to download two beautiful themes for your Eseries device.

Go to http://ea.mobile.nokia.com/content/spin/ea/E50/en/theme from your device.

This will bring you to a page originally for the Nokia E50 with two great themes. These themes will work fine on the E61(i) (and other Eseries devices)

Nokia Media Transfer Supports Nokia E70

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Nokia Media Transfer now works with Nokia E70 without any hacks!

Nokia Media Transfer, which enables you to transfer pictures, videos, podcasts, music, and files between your Nokia mobile device and your Mac, was released two weeks ago but it only supported Nseries devices.

However, Nokia has quietly introduced support for Nokia E70. (Thank you Nokia!) The device is not yet listed as one of the supported devices but there is a profile available for the Nokia E70.

Friday Themes

Friday, June 15th, 2007

It’s finally Friday and time for some good theme for your Eseries device.

This week’s themes are a mixed bag. First up is a theme that is rather old but have been requested a few times. It is a simple white/black theme with no bells or whistles but should appeal to those of you who subscribe to the philosophy of less is more.

White Revisited by Daniel

The resolution of N76 Red is (240×320) but it still works pretty well on Nokia E61(i).

Nokia E90 Retail Photos

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

OK, I don't plan to milk the fact that the Nokia E90 now is starting to show up in the retail channel forever but still… Here are some snaps from a store in Indonesia selling the Nokia E90

The following photos are from the Ambassador Mall / ITC Kuningan in Jakarta. The price for the devices is a whopping 15 million to 18 (yes , eighteeen) million rupiah! (approximately US $1,650 - US $1,980)

Metal Striped Nokia E61

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Ericko had his Nokia E61 decorated by the talented guys at Gmask. They created a one of a kind Metal Stripe Nokia E61.

I was hoping that Gmask would have opened a store in China so that I could have had a few of my Eseries devices modded but sadly, they do not have any presence in China, nor USA for that matter. At least not yet.

Nokia E90 Indonesia Report

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Today is the first day when the Nokia E90 is available to the general public in Indonesia (the number one market for Nokia's communicators).

I received reports that people started queuing from 2 am (TWO O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING!) for a sale start at 10.00 am. Since supply is so limited some people are turning around selling the device for a profit.  It is reported that the retail price is about US $1,200 and the price from the hawkers can be as high as US $1,550

Thanks Iwan.

Update: Alex has more coverage from the first day over at Nokia E90 Blogspot. Great coverage Alex!

Nokia E90 Officially Launched

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

There was an official launch event for Nokia E90 earlier today in Indonesia, kicking off availability of the device. At the VIP event 1000 units were sold to Nokia Communicator Community members and other VIPs. Tomorrow the device should be available to the public in Indonesia.

I have also received reports that the Nokia E90 now is available in Finland.

Nokia Sports Tracker v1.49 - Kaizen*

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

Kaizen* is the Japanese management concept of incremental and continuous improvement - something the two main gentlemen behind Nokia Sports Tracker seem to have adopted.

They are continuously updating and improving the application at an impressive pace. These updates are often the direct result from end user feedback via the web. Very impressive!

The new version - v1.49 contains the following enhancements/changes:

Nokia Media Transfer

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

Tommi writes that Nokia has started to love Mac. Sure, with release of the Nokia Media Transfer application which enables you to transfer pictures, videos, podcasts, music, and files between your Nokia mobile device and your Mac, you would think so but…

Sadly though, this is currently only for the Nseries devices….

Nokia Media Transfer supports file transfer of photos and video from iPhoto to the device and music, podcasts and videos in iTunes to your Nseries device - exactly what I would want for my Nokia E61i and for my future Nokia E90…

Catching Up: Nokia E90

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

Back from vacation with so much to catch up on…

For an example, the Support Page for Nokia E90 is now live.

The page contains interactive demos, user manuals/set-up guides, great tips and tricks for Nokia E90, technical specifications and more.

Speaking of Nokia E90, My-Symbian.com has gotten their hands on a production unit of Nokia E90 and updated their in-depth review of the device.  Equally interesting is AllAboutSymbian.com's a day with the Nokia E90 article.

No words yet regarding official availability of the device but I hope soon~!

Last Days Of Vacation

Friday, June 8th, 2007

As my vacation in China is coming to its end, things will be back to normal on this blog by next week.

A big thank you to everyone who wrote to me while on vacation with suggestions of places to go and offering me help and advice. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I took your advice and of course visited, among other places, The Great Wall of China, The Summer Palace, The Temple of Heaven but also the trendy art district 798 (Thanks for the recommendation Sonnny).

I really enjoyed the time here. China is an *amazing* country so filled with contradictions and opposites; modern - old, East - West, high tech - low tech, etc.

I highly recommend anyone to visit this remarkable place.

BlackBerry Connect 4.0 For Nokia E61i

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Thanks to Risotto for pointing out that BlackBerry Connect 4.0 also is available for Nokia E61i. Since I am not a BlackBerry Connect user I tend to focus on Mail For Exchange.

Among the new features of BBC 4.0 for Nokia Eseries are:

  • Over The Air Enterprise activation
  • OTA Contacts Sync
  • Pin to Pin message (receiving)
  • Email filters and signature
  • Out of office message
  • Attachment Viewer updates for pictures

More information about BlackBerry Connect for Nokia Eseries here.
